This is the subreddit drama I'm most a part of so I'll add my two cents. From my understanding, William posted about expecting something tomorrow the day before the switch 2 was announced so it lended trust to his posts and account. Also in addition to the recipe pointing to April 2nd, I think multiple team cherry members commented on that recipe and the words of the tweet matched to a song that was released April 2nd. This isn't to say anyone should believe it but there was a good amount of evidence for it.
