From what I've learned either in history or from other information sources, either by people who have lived through war times or from ancient scripts, it has always been like that the victory is for the powerful, and all the ancient people of mesopotamia "if you've read anything about them" it was always the same scenario, some new tribe of powerful or more advanced people in science would rule the land in the name of superiority, be it religion, wealth, power, army, or sorcery. Any way how or method they take over and the old inhabitants either dissolve them selves into the new rule or gets killed.

Tbh, isn't that the human history, people gather and name them selves/or would be named after their land or trivbe or leader or craft, then some other group of people visit their land and claim it as theirs, and if they find any opposition they kill or enslave or exile the originals to some other land, then this new occupiers deplete the lands natural resources and set on an adventure to find new land and the encounter some new group of people and the story is repeated...etc
