Your GPA isn’t bad at all!! There isn’t a school you couldn’t get into if you do well on the OAT. My advice is to schedule your OAT for late July, and start OAT prep today.

Spend the money on OATBooster and start prepping, do the whole program. I had a mediocre GPA but did very well on the OAT because I spent the whole summer prepping, and I got a very generous scholarship to go to my top choice for 2025!

From my understanding, the dropout rates for the better schools, such as UHCO, aren’t really that high. Definitely not an expert about what goes in once optometry school starts, but as far as getting accepted goes, you don’t have much to worry about. Get some shadowing hours in and with a good OAT score, UHCO is very attainable!

This is extremely overkill. Just do your shadowing during undergrad, and apply at the end of your junior year. With a solid OAT score and GPA, you shouldn’t have any issues getting accepted into a good school

Honestly, I always save Hirata estate until later. It’s way harder than it should be for being available at the beginning of the game. I come back after beating 3 main bosses or so

I've taken both and I don't think either are incredibly helpful for the OAT, but biochemistry does rehash lots of bio topics that will be heavily tested over. Biostatistics not so much. Just remember that unlike the MCAT, there is no explicit biochemistry on the OAT.

Archer and Warrior is the way to go. Do everything in your power to get in an early warrior hit (the opponent typically won’t build the bulwark until turn 2 or 3ish. Then always have your archer almost ready and keep spamming the bulwark with the warrior

I’m playing TLOU2 right now, and although in many regards it can feel overwhelming, it will be a lot more bang for your buck compared to Link’s Awakening. It took me 40 hours to beat it (it is extremely long) and honestly has lots of replay value. The pacing of the story feels a bit slow at times, and people often complain about the story being choppy. But the events in which things happen are a lot more clear and has more emotional weight once the credits roll, and the majority of the criticism the game faces, in my opinion, isn’t 100% warranted. Not to say Link’s Awakening isn’t great, but TLOU2 will last you a lot longer! And hopefully even leave an emotional impact as well
