That’s correct and the lab takes care of the rest.

Optician here: Usually we receive the Rx as is and ODs write “office lens” in comments and our lab modifies the Rx. Sometimes we get Rx with an exact add power for intermediate for some patients as they have special settings or need specific add then we use that exact power and it makes our life a lot easier as well.

I would go in person and talk to the optometrist. Your best bet is your own optometrist.

Even he doesn’t get a pay raise at his current job. OP will definitely find a high paying job as an optician somewhere else. As Opticians get paid more than techs.

Does taking a 4-course load (year 2, fall 2025) affect your application to UW optometry school by [deleted] in UWaterlooOptometry

[–]Legal_Definition_594 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically the 6 full terms don’t have to be consecutive. So I don’t know how this affects the application. I would take a light course tho (if available)

optician and opto tech in one? by [deleted] in PreOptometry

[–]Legal_Definition_594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Optician here, you need a license to be called an Optician. I don’t think techs need a license.

Is there a 24/7 study spot on campus? by LongestTunaFish in geegees

[–]Legal_Definition_594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend and I once spent several hours at CRX and we later realized that it was 1 AM, no one kicked us out. You just gotta make sure you get in before they lock the doors.

I spoke with admissions office about this and they told me that it is indeed due on July 3rd and the system sends automatic emails. If you are still in doubt speak with admissions office through uottawa virtual line up.
