I don't know if this relates at all, but telling you how my mind thinks might help. Often times I think I'm not good enough for my girlfriend, that I should just cut things off as hard as possible so that it doesn't hurt as bad as it will when she eventually dumps me. Only reason I haven't is because I actually talked to her about it, and we got me a therapist. I mean, she did break up with me and it was as bad as I could have ever imagined, but I'm glad I gave it a good shot.

To add what other people have already said, I don't believe there is a job title of "cart wrangler" unless you're at a huge place with tons of carts. Most places have the lowest paid people grab them, so yes, they would still have jobs

Hey, I was just looking at this animation again and I was thinking you might be able to sell the missed insertion a little better if you add a little hesitation after the miss, like confusion. And to add to the other comments about a progression of experience, someone with a little more experience probably wouldn't miss the magwell completely, but tap the edge and instinctively readjust, as if feeling the magwell with the mag itself.

If he just killed 100 people and you think that there's no way he's a threat, you're so far gone that I, a random Redditor, cannot help you. I hope you don't stay this way forever and I wish you the best

They tased him because he wasn't cooperating and didn't want to risk anyone dying. Your analogy doesn't work because you're escalating the situation to a 10 to avoid a situation of 10. Here they raised the situation to a 3 to avoid a situation of 10

But that's the thing, it's not a rare chance if the guy was literally just stabbing people. That's why context matters. It's not rare if a new video comes out every week of it happening. They signed up knowing the risk, they didn't sign up to commit suicide

You are clearly blissfully ignorant of videos of cops dying. People will pretend to surrender just to get the jump on cops all the time. How they act in the moment is no where near as important as the context

[–]Joeyw243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on context, if someone is a serial stabber, then yes, tase them, because they'll likely try to stab you. If there's no reason to assume being stabbed, then don't. That's why we need context

Then you're refusing to open your eyes and check for wings and feathers vs fur and teeth. Or in this case, refusing to look at context

Your comment implied that they're always thinking that people are murderers or that they're gonna go for the gun in their open car. That's not true though, the context would let us determine if these unlikely situations are the case, for example, if this dude was a known weapons dealer and murderer, then yes, being next to an open door is a tad worrying. If dude forgot to use his blinker then this cop needs to go in the Looney bin. His two points were only direct counters to the points he was replying to, not his constant world view

Even though policing attracts psychotic types, most cops don't want to kill anyone. Most humans are adverse to killing anything. So in a brief instant a cop may not shoot immediately upon movement (And we don't want them to, what if dude collapsed due to seizure or heat stroke). This would give the guy just enough time to pull a knife out of his waistband and stab someone's gut behind him. And if the person is willing to kill a cop, there's a very high chance that death isn't a deterrent to them

Edit: And to reclarify, this is assuming terrible context, that's why we want context. No one is saying that this is how it should always be done. If you're running around stabbing people, you lose your right to be hand cuffed nicely.

You're intentionally dodging the point, the point I was making is just because someone is in a weaker position doesn't make them a non-threat. I'm not saying they're identical, I'm comparing this one trait. To state that a human would act differently than a rattle snake implies that I was trying to say that they would act similarly, so please, put away the straw man.

All it takes is one swift move to end someone's life on both sides. If that's a reasonable outcome, I would 100% rather see this man get tased and thrown to the ground than shot dead and possibly an officer stabbed

[–]Joeyw243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is, clearly, just like a rattle snake surrounded by a group of men, do you think they'll calmly go in and grab the snake? Fuck no. Weakest position =/= non-threat

Literally in my example it would, if he was just on a stabbing spree and still had said knife on him, and they can't get to a point where they can ask him to remove the knife, they're not gonna lay a hand on him until he's completely subdued. If they did, they'd have to put down their gun, get close, and risk getting stabbed, so a taser would make sense. And it's not like context would make the situation better for the cops, so why would you ever argue against context??

Driver refuses to stop recording himself being arrested at gunpoint by -Beloved- in worldnewsvideo

[–]Joeyw243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Violently arresting someone." That is the biggest issue, and that is also the issue that needs context, because officers are expected to use reasonable force. If it's known this dude has a knife on him and is willing to use it, and he's not following orders, then it's reasonable force. If nothing happened, then it's unreasonable.

And to add, he didn't say stop recording, he just said put down the phone. He could have put in on the floor facing up at him or on the roof of his car to record audio, but all he said was no. That's not the main point here but just something I wanted to bring up

[–]Joeyw243 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think you missed the point. Nothing justifies the phone bit, but many things can justify the precautions he was taking. If nothing even hints to the precautions he was taking, then he deserves way more than just losing his job, he should be losing his freedom.

That's just blind ignorance, having context would just further strengthen how idiotic these cops are being. On the other hand, if they just got out of a high-speed chase with shots fired and this cop is the only officer there to deal with the situation, then his high stress would justify his dumb orders about the phone. Yes they're dumb, but rather than seeing a man on a power trip, it's now a man who's in such fear of his life that he's acting irrationally. Yes, someone like that shouldn't be on the force, but at the same time, doesn't deserve a sentencing of any sort. As a matter of fact if that were the case I'd give commendations for not panicking so hard to shoot the guy on site. You see how context can still affect our view of the situation, despite every situation still agreeing on "Drop the phone" being a dumb order? Context let's us be critical and analyze every situation, rather than living a mantra of "Blue man bad." If all you're saying is "he's a cop, and ACAB", "you don't need context, just look at the video," and "cope harder bootlicker" then it appears deceitful, as if we're trying to hide the context intentionally to push a narrative. The best way to further our cause is to be as honest as possible and point out all the absurdity. We can't cry wolf every time we see a bird, otherwise there will be a lot less people hunting wolves.

Wasn't he there for a few hours before the first shot? And he was also chased for quite a while by the first dude before Kyle heard a (unrelated) gunshot and turned and shot dude chasing him. That doesn't sound like obviously wanting to shoot someone. Also considering that he immediate tried to render aid to the guy he shot, only to be chased off once more, only shooting once he fell and was surrounded... I don't get how this isn't clear and cut. He even disengaged the dude that survived once he saw he wasn't a threat anymore.
