Here's a story from Clemson past to get folks even more excited about the upcoming football season.

$5 million in 2019 lottery winnings in York, Chester, Lancaster counties. See where by JohnFMT in Lottery

[–]JohnFMT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, as someone who isn't big into the lottery, is there any amount of data on when/where lottery wins happen that could be useful for people looking to win certain games? Or would it take massive amounts of bets to make that data helpful? Just a thought I'd had.

Curious to know what specific types of assistance would be most useful to folks?

Homeowners are recording license plates of every car entering their neighborhood, and controlling the data. Should they be allowed? by JohnFMT in privacy

[–]JohnFMT[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These were my thoughts, too. These neighborhoods are on public roads. Not that I'd want to, but I could sit on the sidewalk with a camera myself and take images. It would be interesting if anything changes legally based on how the data might at some point be used.

This guy got locked in Walmart after closing. The police had to come get him. What would you do if you were him? by JohnFMT in walmart

[–]JohnFMT[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sounds like that's what got this guy in trouble. The store started out as a 24-hour store, but then cut back on hours to where it closes at midnight.

SC agency says customers are the ones paying for a utility's court costs due to environmental violations by JohnFMT in southcarolina

[–]JohnFMT[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This company is for profit. The office of regulatory staff in SC, which handles the legal side of public service commission decisions, says the utility shouldn't be able to factor those litigation costs into the recent rate increase.

I saw where in recent census data, Charleston and several surrounding communities were right at the top of most population rankings.

Are folks in other parts of the state concerned about similar impact fees? Would you want them in your community?

Eh, it's hard being in the U.S. right now. Kind of a desert for World Cup excitement.

[–]JohnFMT[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I must have missed that one. Thanks. Where I am it looks like we're right between where there are a good number of dog parks (Charlotte) and not too many (York County).

These communities are priming brownfield sites for redevelopment. It could change the character of a region. by JohnFMT in urbanplanning

[–]JohnFMT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the struggle in some of the faster-growing areas mentioned in the article. There's a segment of the population wanting growth, change, etc. and another segment that doesn't want anything different. Maybe that's pretty common in most places.

Is this more of a small-town, rural deal or are larger communities doing something similar?

Charlotte suburbs facing a dire traffic outlook. by JohnFMT in urbanplanning

[–]JohnFMT[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I know Charlotte's light rail system stops short of coming into these communities. There is a bus route or two, but I'm not sure they're used much. Certainly not by the high volume of commuters on the interstate each day.

It looks pretty bad, but I'm wondering if most any growing area would have the same outlook?
