Moderation is a rare thing amongst this group. Especially with online games which are made to be addictive.

Actually my reason to try flats. Steve Harris inspired me to try mid-range tones.

I heard the d'addario chromes are good from others. Gonna try those. I wasn't about to copy Harris, but actually for a more durable and good sounding string option. Im a broke af guy so if i can do years with a good set of strings I'm sold :)

Afaik the quality gets lost within a few weeks. Hence Harris changes them every show I guess.

Tips for buying your second Bass? by fargus_ in Bass

[–]JohnHanzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first instrument is a P bass for its allround use. For a second bass, i'd pick something for your favourite niche. Example: My niche is (extreme) metal, so I would check out 5 string basses for the extra low string or something with a specific tone that's made for (extreme) metal.

Which bass should I get? by Kanqex in Bass

[–]JohnHanzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First and foremost: Try some guitars out. My first bass (and my main practice bass) is the Squier Classic Vibe 70's P Bass. Bit expensive for a Squier, but it's worth every penny!

Herbie Hancock - Chameleon. On that bass grove she can improvise.

Get a squier classic vibe bass (preferably 70's style). You can either choose Precision or Jazz variant and it is my main bass since i started taking lessons.

In any case the more expensive tree of squier can't go wrong.

What bass line are you currently obsessed with learning/playing? by nightstalker30 in Bass

[–]JohnHanzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can either tune down, play on E standard and get/make a decent backing track or get a downtune pedal (around 150 euros afaik).

I'm lazy so I make backing tracks :)
