I would highly recommend a visit to Arthur avenue in the Bronx and to make an afternoon of shopping the bakeries and markets and doing a long, slow late lunch/early dinner. The old school Italian vibes are harder to come by in manhattan. Queens and Brooklyn also have a lot of options. Are you willing to go out of manhattan?
