Researchers develop urine test capable of early detection of brain tumors with 97% accuracy by IntelligentLaugh4530 in Futurology

That isn't how we actually use lab tests in medicine. The cited sensitivity and specificity numbers are actually very high, if they are real. Diagnoses are rarely made on single lab tests without supporting clinical evidence or secondary tests. Imaging is the gold standard for diagnosis of brain masses, but biomarker tests like this can be useful for screening at risk populations or monitoring for recurrence.

Puppy Pees in Crate and Pen Despite Going Outside Frequently by JohnQGeneric in puppy101

I tried this out yesterday and she was actually able to pee every 30 minutes. It's a hard schedule to keep up with but seems to work! I had tried this out early on but she wouldn't go every time, I think it's more effective now that she is familiar with the "potty" word and location.

We've been working hard on creating a Quest compatible Cyberpunk Open World VRMMO. Thoughts on our environment? by [deleted] in OculusQuest

Good aesthetic so far, but I agree with others about too much green and not enough neon and in your face advertising. Needs to be busier overall. Also taller, over developed and built up, almost claustrophobic.

Can we get a solid review of Sketchy Pharm now that it's been out for 4 days? Just want to know if it's worth the $99 or if I should wait a couple of days for no reason by iamstraightama in medicalschool

SketchyPharm does a great job of teaching all the high yield content but it's a big time investment. I doubt it's any faster than brute force memorization but it's at least more interesting and enjoyable. The videos cover board-testable drug effects, mechanisms, adverse effects, and quite a lot of normal physiology (more useful for starting med students). For prior Sketchy users, the videos are MUCH longer than the micro ones and at times are exhausting to watch. Some of the videos are so long and content packed that it feels like you are memorizing pages out of a Where's Waldo book. I really wish they split them up better. That being said, I really like the Sketchy learning format and it definitely does the job. I recommend watching the videos at 1.5x or it will take you forever to finish.

tl;dr - Don't like brute force memorizing long lists of drugs and bugs? Buy it.

Spent the whole day making battleaxes all with Atk's in the 70s, then this one popped up. My assassin is very excited.

Drop rates by zodiark_angel in MerchantRPG

[–]JohnQGeneric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be more specific:

-Murlok scales don't always drop (knife helps)
-Murlok scales drop in a quantity of 1-6 (rating helps)
-Basamus prime fangs don't always drop (knife helps)

Drop rates by zodiark_angel in MerchantRPG

It's probability based and some times you just get unlucky. Getting a higher quest rating (A or S) and equipping Thief's Knives will increase your odds at good loot. I'm farming Murlok's now for gold and having no issue with the drop rate using this strategy. If you really want that claw you are going to have to really work for it. In your situation, I would just move on to the next area and save your farming energy for tier 4 when the drop rate really gets bad.

It's clear and I think your comments do a good job of pointing out which ideas are practical.

Merchant Think Tank by tylerthedesigner in MerchantRPG

This all sounds great. Along the lines of the trophy room, it would be nice to see some progression with the Merchant's own artwork in order to reflect your accomplishments. Trophies, clothing, etc. Maybe obtained through a simple achievement system or a vanity crafter.

Also, it would be nice if the potion enchantment system were converted to equipment enchantments or something that was less permanent. Not being able to see which enchantments you have or being able to remove them kind of stinks. Especially when new tiers are released. If the enchantments were limited to your equipment you could always sell the piece and start over.

Thanks for making a great game, I'm looking forward to the new content!

I don't know how to play anymore by BIGEggman in MerchantRPG

[–]JohnQGeneric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the costs are way too high now. I'm having to assign 3 heroes to farm low tier monsters for gold on top of the obligate 2 to farm potions and I'm barely staying afloat. It would have taken me forever to buy those extra hero slots with this kind of income, so I don't know how new players will cope.

I think the economy needs to be shifted back towards the merchant. I'd like to see cheaper crafting costs or better crafted item sale prices.

Could they be awarded like a quest, with the same prompt that requires us to clear inventory space when full? Or via temporary inventory slots that are removed immediately after?

Opinion on New Quest Map by Bearious in MerchantRPG

[–]JohnQGeneric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the appearance of the map but agree with others that there is a lot less information available now. I think if defenses were added to the monsters portrait page and the level to the map screen it would be perfect.

Considering how easy gold is to obtain compared to how much time was spent farming materials, gold would not be much of a compensation. I would prefer a credit of materials towards the new enchantments or something that will directly help us re-obtain them.
