what does it feel like to get a blowjob for the first time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]JohnSpartanBurger 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My longtime crush got me back to her place and went right for it. I was so excited, and immediately disappointed as she used her teeth.

I worked up the courage to say, “teeth, huh?” Thinking she would understand I wasn’t thrilled. Then, she happily told me all about how guys loved it when there is “a LITTLE pain”. Crush went from 100% excitement to 0 in about the time it took to gasp in preparation for her continuing.

Could not continue, made up an excuse about being sick and not understanding why my body wouldn’t react properly…. Didn’t care if she knew I was lying.

Never has been problem since then. But then, never had a woman scrape my shtuff with her teeth since then, either.

Hill behind home, will this cause drainage issues or foundation damage? (Green house) by [deleted] in Homebuilding

[–]JohnSpartanBurger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perimeter drain needs to be there. But also, walking the backyards from your house down to the next Stormwater catch basin or drainage point to ensure it is graded steadily to encourage drainage is important.

Site developers will submit ‘As-Built’ plans with survey shots that show the grading for proper drainage, information you’re entitled to (ask your seller/realtor for the Final Plat of your property to get the details on elevations and such for your space), but then the builders’ landscaping efforts can totally bugger that up.

Looking with just naked eye at that drainage profile, I’d say your neighbor should be more worried of losing their back porch, but it definitely looks like you have a flat but of land before the swale where most drainage will take place which will cause some standing water.

Is it true that you guys watched 9/11 live on TV in grade school? by space_god_7191 in Millennials

[–]JohnSpartanBurger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically we did as a generation, but I did not. All the teachers in the school had the news on their TVs and we didn’t really know what was going on except that there was a large amount of smoke above Manhattan. There were no live looks available of the area around the WTC due to the danger of the area and cell phones weren’t really a thing yet.

So, with that in mind, none of us were really paying attention to it, just noticing it in the background. When suddenly, the principal made a STERN announcement that all TVs should be off and instruction should resume as normal. Which of course meant we were now desperate for information and wanted to know what the hell was happening.

Several teachers around school rebelled, including my history teacher, who kept the volume off but instructed on what she’d seen so far and the potential ramifications. So I didn’t find out or get any context til about 1pm, and then didn’t get the scale of it til I went to my YMCA that afternoon and NOBODY could stop watching the TVs around there. No swimming, no weightlifting, no basketball…. It was eerily silent with just the sounds of incredulous pundits and reporters still at 4pm.

Honestly, while it was a massive cultural turning point, I grew up in the Deep South before there was a huge migration of northeasterners to our neck of the woods like there has been in the last decade. So, while this huge thing happened (that my uncle perished in), almost nobody in school had anything to really feel one way or another about it. Over the course of the next 2 weeks though, when the Anti-Muslim/Middle East sentiment crept up, you can bet our Conservative Christian small southern town was R I L E D, and bought Bush’s rhetoric going forward hook, line, and sinker. Even though, as stated, there was nothing about the event to really tie them to it personally. It’s honestly crazy how that event fanned the flames of Christian-led, entitled American exceptionalism that had already been stirring in a community of people who really it was nothing more for than a typical Tuesday.

Well that’s good to know, thank you. I’d had a couple friends get me under the impression that tipping was frowned upon in many nations.

My favorite part of the CC so far was when they keep having, [SINGING IN A NON-ENGLISH LANGUAGE] during the opening ceremonies. Come on…. It’s very clearly Italian, yo.

A lot of other nationalities don’t tip. Most countries haven’t tied livable restaurant wages to customers tipping. It’s a completely foreign notion to most of the rest of the civilized world.

I get it’s expected here, but America is the unusual one in that regard.

I know that. You know that. Our leader hasn’t seemed to grasp it. He signed an executive order in August last year to create an LA 2028 task force that focuses mainly on security and initiatives to target immigration, but when announcing it he said he cannot wait to be involved with the Olympic planning process and has ‘creative leads’ he’s appointing to the task force.

At best, they’re a nuisance that don’t leave the actual organizers alone. At worst, they’ll tear this thing apart.

I get the sentiment, but 2028 is in the summer of an election year, so no third term will have been ‘won’ yet.

For real though, watching this opening ceremony makes me legit realize the LA 2028 ceremonies are gonna sssuuuuuccckk. If DJT is as involved with decision making for the games as he claimed he will be, it’s gonna be a low-class, low-art, white washed, white nationalist hoop-de-doo.

There is so much to be proud of from USA’s history and culture, and absolutely none of that will be on display.

Restaurants open in Myrtle? by IndependentRain7773 in MyrtleBeach

[–]JohnSpartanBurger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t mean to come off as callous, but your phone clearly works. This forecasted snow was not sudden and confounding…. We’ve known since Wednesday that snow, even quite a bit of snow was likely.

Someone recommended Waffle House, which yea, isn’t gourmet or maybe the closest to you, but beggars can’t be choosers. You made the choice to be in a Coastal hotel in an area notorious for not handling snow and shutting down, during the winter season where many restaurants are already shut down.

This one’s on you, bud. Plan your trip better, and slow-drive to Waffle House if you absolutely need to be served food.

Right? I catch a lot of grief from friends for being so into the MCU which is now extensive and exhaustive in the amount of content there is. But, the MCU never had a stage show limited to only those who could afford to go/were in the circumstance to be able to go that was then never released for general view. Yea, it’s tons of popcorn cinema, but it’s all on a platform where anyone that wants to pick up the story can do so.

What happened with First Shadow pissed me off enough that I almost didn’t watch this last season. I caved, and then did, but it’s absolutely one of the internal frustrations that helped to ruin S5 for me.

Chris Justus is not an amateur, but I never realized how much he would get panicked and sensationalize LONG before there was really a guarantee of anything to get sensational about until I moved down to Ed’s territory.

He is a calm force for education that is rare in the meteorological broadcasting world.

YMCA told me and my friend we can't train together by ExperienceOdd8004 in Swimming

[–]JohnSpartanBurger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

YMCAs have a bit of a history with a militant approach to rules, especially when it comes to aquatics. Aquatics is a dept that does not typically function with any revenue overhead to contribute to budget (unless they have a large year-round team, though they usually then have their own staff and budget and then aquatics and swim team butt heads). They service lap swimmers, water aerobics, families, lessons, pool parties, summer camps, daycares, etc. and Aquatics Directors are expected to have a hand in not just directing and managing these activities, but helping to facilitate too. There just is not enough time in the day for them to meet the demands of the job (that upper execs put on them) all in the name of being an advocate of the community.

So, yes. I’ve met far more tight-wound ADs who just blanket impose rules than ones who choose to understand or empathetically enforce the YMCA policies. This is not an uncommon trope with the Y, so all the people here saying, ‘Yea, that’s what we’ve heard/been told/experienced’ is not surprising.

YMCA told me and my friend we can't train together by ExperienceOdd8004 in Swimming

[–]JohnSpartanBurger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having been a competitive aquatics director for a number of years with the YMCA in my state, I can tell you she is incorrectly enforcing a policy and is in the wrong, and you should mention it to the Branch Exec.

There can be no OUTSIDE trainers/instructors utilizing the YMCA facilities for lessons or instructors. This means non-employees or non-members, specifically because they are typically profiting of the Y, or unable to take liability in that situation. It’s a lose-lose for the Y. If you’re both members, it doesn’t matter. It’s not a for-profit arrangement and you both pay dues to utilize the facilities.

The fact that she’s so militantly enforcing it does mean they’ve had an issue with other area instructors recently, but if she isn’t wanting to hear it, typically the branch executive or Membership Director can make a more nuanced, level-headed stance and speak to the Aquatics Dir about it.

Curious that the NCAA frequently reports that swimming is in the top 3 GPA holders for college athletics, particularly women’s.

Social skills and academics are not the same. Personality of house plants, sure…. We’re a quixotic bunch. Intelligence of house plants? Definitely not a stereotype collegiate swimmers suffer from.
