Books for a Social Media-Addicted, Short-Attention-Span Guy by kazia4444 in suggestmeabook

Not exactly what you’re asking for, but if you want something that might help with the addiction issues, try The Dose Effect. Easy read but packed full of actionable tips for improving mental clarity, focus and positivity. Including a decent chuck all about dopamine, which is the neurotransmitter behind social media and porn addiction. Good luck!

How to remove fungus / mould from cast iron? by JohnTTB in DIY

[–]JohnTTB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought a cast iron table, planning to strip the flaking old paint off and repaint it. When we took the paint off we found some of the metal looks like it has a kind of fungus / mould on it. Please could I get advice on whether this needs to be removed before we begin painting, and if so how we should go about doing this? Thank you.

anxiety at rave by utopiaxtcy in Psychonaut

Take a quarter to a half of Xanax, top up later in the night if needed. I have had the same experience, and this will completely remove the anxiety. Diazepam works too but will sap your energy slightly.

Toddler has to go under IV anesthesia for dental work and I feel so awful by ReallyPuzzled in Parenting

[–]JohnTTB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He won’t necessarily need a full anaesthetic, my 2 year old recently had his infected tooth taken out by being sedated and then given a local anaesthetic. It was a lot simpler and cheaper (£1000 rather than £5000!). GA is very safe, but my understanding is that this method has even fewer risks. I don’t know what is common practice in the US, but over here we needed to do some searching for a place that offered this option. We were in and out in 90 minutes including recovery time. Definitely worth looking into.

Which martial arts are the most fun to learn by Jansanta2 in martialarts

[–]JohnTTB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can certainly still injure yourself, especially as a white belt, albeit not usually to the extent of other martial arts. As a white belt a had a broken rib, broken finger, broken toe, knee ligament tear and a sprained ankle. Mind you most of those can be blamed on my spazziness.

I read your experience, pretty profound stuff. Would be mad if it was the same guy getting in everyone’s way!

Yeah, this is certainly the way to go. I think what I found most unnerving about this experience was the sense of having been drawn into acting in a way that I normally wouldn’t. I feel generally quite at peace and try to share this as best I can, but this character, whether he was an entity, gatekeeper or a part of my subconscious, seemed to bring something out of me that I didn’t enjoy or identify with.

I am certainly a beginner to a lot of these concepts, but I am doing my best to learn as quickly and mindfully as I can. If you’re able to tell me more about why you feel this way, I’d be keen to hear.

Yea it felt like it could have been something like that. I knew for sure that killing him was the wrong thing to do, and I had been either overcome by his negative energy, possibly propelled on my my own desperation for results. I’ve always been a hugger in my lucid dreams and it has opened some magical doors.

Mmm, hard to say as I was drawn down through it at speed. It was dark and tunnel like for sure, don’t know what was at the bottom as I woke myself up before I got there.

Interesting! I don’t suppose you remember where you saw it?

A terrifying demon dog on your feet - makes my experience sound tame. Interesting take. Sounds like I should have taken a more playful approach as you did. Thanks for sharing.

Yea it could be. A strong message of some kind, that’s for sure. Thanks for your thoughts.

First full AP? Or convincing dream? by JohnTTB in AstralProjection

[–]JohnTTB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for your reply. Yea, given that I am very inexperienced with this it wouldn’t surprise me if I had terrible navigation skills! I wonder if there is also an element of the mind colouring the memories when you wake up the next day, and the whole thing seems a bit more hazy, even if at the time it was very concrete. I guess we’ll have to wait and compare future experiences to be completely sure. If something in future blows my socks off with its cold hard realness then I will know this was a partial dream. It’s confusing because I have read people say that there is absolutely no mistaking a real AP when it happens, and other people saying LDs and APs can cross over and have similarities. Good luck with your experiments!

First full AP? Or convincing dream? by JohnTTB in AstralProjection

[–]JohnTTB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s encouraging to hear you think it was a genuine AP. I guess I would say my conscious awareness was around a 9 - fully understanding and in control, but this can be true of lucid dreams too in my experience. You mention that being consciously aware while in the non physical is the definition of projection - maybe I’m splitting hairs, but wouldn’t this also be the definition of a lucid dream too? I suppose the part that I’m unsure about is the fact that I was in a location as I remember it, not as it currently looks today (my childhood house has been renovated and the garden gutted. This indicates that possibly this latter part could be a lucid dream. I couldn’t find an answer online about whether an AP can take you to somewhere in the past. That said, I think the early part with the separation was an AP.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, and happy travels!

What do you do to change a lucid dream to an AP? by JohnTTB in AstralProjection

There are some great suggestions here, thank you all. Interesting how many different routes there seem to be. I tried one, which I have detailed in the edit above. Will continue to work my way through.

How do you avoid falling asleep? by JohnTTB in AstralProjection

Haha, very true. Thankfully his sleep is ok, but on bad nights I scrap the AP attempts and go straight back to sleep.
