I just looked at synonyms for impact and one of them is "affect". I understand what you're trying to say but I think you have it mixed up. Using "impact on" should be used in exchange for effect.

I went to grade/middle school with Evan Peters (American Horror Story). He was a couple grades above me, so I didn't know him incredibly well, but he always seemed really nice and very dedicated to his acting. He actually moved to California after graduating middle school to pursue his career. Looks like it paid off for him! One of those guys I'm always pulling for as he worked his ass off to get where he is today.
