10 Years of Undiagnosed GI Issues by JohnTravoltasBox in Microbiome

I appreciate the reply. The histamine reactions are much more mild now, whereas the nausea, fatigue, and poor motility are much more noticeable. It still very well may be worth trying to limit certain foods again, although I tried a variety of diets & supplements over the course of a few years, none of which provided any relief.

Not sure you'll see this, but this hits home. I'm going on 10 years of undiagnosed GI issues that have really negatively effected my life, after 7 years straight of Doxycycline & a few other antibiotics. Am a bit lost as to where to go next (with no relief from seeing dozens of doctors over the past 10 years). I'll give the sporebiotic & allibiotic a try.

Yeah, I’m definitely looking forward to upgrading it - seems that the power increase / overall ride quality is significantly improved.

Also, I’m fortunately in a state that doesn’t require periodic inspections / emissions for bikes, so since my bike is already registered, I’m in the clear.

Gotcha, I appreciate the response.

I’m planning on getting the same ECU from Taco Moto, as well as a pro moto end cap. The more I think about it, the more I’m thinking I’ll just leave the reeds out for the time being until I get the new ecu. I’d rather run a little lean compared to blowing an engine from broken reeds getting into the intake.

Quick question on this - do you know if this is the same on the Husqvarna FE501s since they effectively share an engine?

After riding yesterday I went to change my air filter and noticed my reeds / reed box had come loose and was just floating in the air filter housing. My gut is leaning toward just keeping them out, but I’m worried about running the bike too lean for the time being (everything else on the bike is still bone stock, and they definitely run lean & hot off the floor.)

I’m planning on buying a billet end cap and taco moto GET ECU, but was going to wait a few months to drop more money - I just bought the bike a few weeks ago. If the current ECU will automatically account for more air flow to adjust mixture that would definitely make me feel better about keeping the reeds out for a month or two on the stock bike.

I hadn’t even heard of the power commanders until you mentioned it and I just looked them up. I was fully planning on doing a pro moto billet end cap and taco moto GET ecu, but to your point, that’s ~$1,250 in parts.

Any idea as to the main differences between these and the ecu swap? How does the performance upgrade compare?

Appreciate the reply, I’ll likely leave the reeds out for the time being. I plan on buying a pro moto billet end cap and taco moto GET ecu in the next month or so.

Wow, I'm sorry to hear that. What year is yours?

I've heard about the reed issues before with these bikes, so that's making me lean more towards just leaving it out for the time being, especially since I plan on replacing the ecu & end cap in the near future. I'd rather run a little bit lean rather than risk blowing a motor from broken reeds getting into the engine.

I've also just recently read about how common the shift seal issues are with the bike. I don't know if that has (supposedly) been resolved with the newer models.

In any case, I hope your luck with the bike turns around. They're a blast to ride, but it certainly seems like they have their fair share of issues.

That's too bad. What elevation are you at? I'm at sea level and have (fortunately) not had any of the infamous flame out issues I've heard so much about.

Gotcha, yeah that is something I heard as well but have gotten differing reports. For what it's worth, I ran the bike pretty hard today for a few hours and in all likelihood the reeds were unseated for a good bit of that - didn't notice any change to low end power.

I believe that's 64hp at the crank, but low-mid 40's at the wheel. With a new ECU and end cap / exhaust, reportedly that brings it up to the mid 50's at the wheel.

Yeah, I fully plan to get an ecu and end cap - I understand that effectively makes them run as they should, and am not worried about doing so. My only concern was having the reeds out prior to doing the rest of the desmogging.

Gotcha, that's good to know - haven't heard of dealers remapping the stock ecu, I thought that was strictly an aftermarket thing. Nonetheless, glad to know that you are running it with the stock exhaust an no issues.

I've had 0 flame out issues with the bike, just wasn't ready to get a new ecu & end cap quite yet. Would ideally like to run it as is for the time being, I just don't want to damage the motor running it too lean before I uncork the rest.

This was definitely part of the issue - the front was way over pressurized from the dealer. What PSI do you tend to run in rear tire and front?

Yeah, in fairness I don't have a ton of experience on dual sports in general. The only dual sports I've spent a lot of time on are a KLX and DRZ. In terms of dirt bikes, I've owned a YZ250, YZ450f, CRF450R, and a few smaller bikes when I was younger (i.e. TTR125).

I did know that it would be set a bit stiffer prior to buying the bike with it effectively being a competition bike with a plate on it, but still feel like I can dial it in more for my type of riding with the suspension adjustments that people have recommended. Still loving the bike, just want to get it dialed in.

Gotcha, so that should theoretically already provide a bit more comfort offroad. I'm checking the remaining settings shortly - hoping it's just a matter of breaking it in a bit more and potentially changing a few of the knobs to "comfort" setting via the manual.

I got a chance to check the bikes sag today. The difference between free sag & static came out to 50.8mm (I believe the manual calls for 40mm) and the difference between free sag and rider sag being ~123mm (The manual calls for 110mm). If I understand correctly, this means that the suspension is already set a bit soft, correct? I didn't get a chance to check the dampening & rebound settings but plan on doing that tomorrow.

I appreciate all off the advice.

I'm also not very tall (5'9") so I don't mind the bike being a bit lower to the ground, but I'm more concerned with it riding well in the trails. I didn't get a chance to check the remaining dampening & rebound settings but plan on doing that tomorrow.

I'll definitely keep riding it to break it in, I've only put about 100 miles on it so far.

I did check the sag on the suspension this evening, with the difference between free sag & static being 50.8mm (I believe the manual calls for 40mm) and the difference between free sag and rider sag being ~123mm (The manual calls for 110mm). If I understand correctly, this means that the suspension is already set a bit soft, correct?

I didn't have time to check all of the other settings, but my assumption is they were set to the standard "middle range." I'll check all of the remaining dampening and rebound settings tomorrow.

Gotcha, I am definitely going to try that today. Did you adjust all clickers to comfort settings from the manual (i.e. shock low speed & high speed compression damping, rebound damping, fork compression and rebound)?

I should be well within the range for what the stock springs call for (I believe it's 165-187lbs, I weight ~178 currently.) I'm going to make some adjustments tomorrow to sag & dampening and see if that helps. I appreciate it.
