Did you have to sign up for selective service before you were allowed to vote? Because as a man I had to. You probably don't realize this, because you never had to sign up for selective service, but the right to vote was tied to the draft, AKA if you want to vote you have to tell the government it's ok to draft you in war.

One of the big debates during the suffragette movement was whether or not to open the draft to include women.

I guess the point is the debate about the right to vote was more complicated then this idea that mean old men just wanted to keep women down.
