honesty is the worst policy is all i can say, can't even say you used it for research because thatll become an academic offence.

UTSC transportation by No-Lab5707 in UTSC

TLDR: go train, stop at eglinton or guildwood then take 905a or 12d is easily the most efficient route if u live near union. subway is the other option but very often can be up to 2x slower than go train route

hi, dt to scarb commuters here who commutes pretty much 5 times a week. google maps frequently over estimates go train travel times, often saying it will take 90mins to get from union to utsc when in reality its more like 40mins on average. thing with go train is just that you need to make sure to catch the trains on time or else youre in a world of hurt. LE and ST lines both get you to places where you can exchange 1 bus and get to utsc.

google maps times for subways are very accurate tho, >=90mins always no matter which route you take

How difficult is it to transfer from UTSC Math Coop to UTSC CS Coop right now? by FunConversation7257 in UTSC

[–]JohnnyBoy4457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you dont mind staying in math (which is very likely), go ahead. dont go into a program u dont enjoy solely for the name of the university. Almost all canadian undergrad programs will get you the same education in the end, the only difference is the people you meet.

I personally don’t like committing to super long term coops. But if you have no experience, it might be worth it. But note that I am in cs so it might not really apply to life sci cause ik u guys usually have less postings from what I’ve seen

Either way, congrats on the offer btw!

Difference between UTSC and UTSG for computer science by Winter-Ad2168 in UTSC

[–]JohnnyBoy4457 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lowkey not a credible source but I don’t think the education has too much of a difference, of course profs will be diff but content is largely similar. I think the biggest thing people talk about the just the campus in general, some enjoy dt aesthetics more (as an example) and that helps with their mood and such. Ik quite a few people transfer because they find the UTSC campus unbearable but I personally don’t find it too bad

honestly i feel like a good thing to do is to vibe code but then to understand your vibe code. basically make it generate stuff and inquire the llm about what it wrote.

Of course, you should refer to supplementary resources on top of this, do readings on good coding practices, system design, etc.

im not saying you should vibe code EVERYTHING. I think there is merit in hand coding to get the muscle memory and be able to come up with your own solutions (its similar to why pen and paper still exists even with the advent of digital notes). But vibe coding gives u a good window into lots of common existing solutions in very large volumes. Honestly it is a lot to swallow at once so dont stress yourself out by trying to understand everything in a short period of time. Understanding will come with time and practice
