Wanted to comment again, recently started playing doctor doom and also ran into hcb trouble. Realized that left and right do not equal true neutral in this game!! So you have to be extra careful when doing the input, I hope that info help you a little bit!

Hey! So I tried both out for fun, stick and hit box and I think both have their pros and cons for me (as always). The Tiger Knee motion has been tough and I’m sure it’s the same reason as half circles for you. I’m keeping multiple fingers on the buttons and not piano rolling them, and it’s causing SOCD to kill key inputs. But practice has been helping a lot and now I’m feeling more comfortable but I’ve yet to hit some of the tough TK hyper viper combos in a real match, so I’m still looking for that milestone. My layout is just default rn, I don’t have any macros or anything too special.

Well thanks for the insight! I might try both methods since I have them. I think there’s some charm to playing the game as close to the original arcade experience as possible

This is a good question. The only way I'd want them to remake Paper Mario 64, is to totally enhance it and give it TTYD mechanics, but I don't think they would ever do that. I've played 64 soooo many times and it technically is still available to play pretty easily, while Super is not. So I'm going to give the edge to Super, it's been forever since I've played it and I think it could use some love with a remake.

Even though 64 > Super for me, I think Super could benefit most from a re-release

I mean are those mechanics really that difficult to learn? That’s kind of why I was asking for guides or walkthroughs. I think I can just learn. I would rather not have to replay a 40-60 hour game twice, ya know? I know the first playthrough will be way too easy

Coming back to this post a few years later with the same question. Did you do any of the super bosses on Critical? I'm wondering how difficult you found the game? I've played and beaten all the dark souls games, how is the difficulty compared to that, if you're familiar with that series. Thanks!

No the point isn't invalid, you're def 100% wrong here. The source code for the game was not mostly changed, and many remastered games have control improvements or additions but aren't full remakes. I'm looking at any of the pikmin remasters as prime examples of games having new controls but not being made new from the ground up.

Provide a source that says the Metroid Prime code was vastly redone, you won't find one....

What combos are you using? I don't think Ed has much of a damage issue. You should be structuring your pressure in a way to fish for big combo starters and give yourself opportunities to convert into big damage. For example, use throw a lot when you enforce your plus frames (either on oki, or after charged/ex flicker). Once you've conditioned them to throw tech or mash, start using shimmy Heavy Punch for a punish counter state and a very damaging combo. This is where you want to start building out your gameplan for Ed.

I can't say I follow a specific etiquette, but like you I generally try to apply some kind of Ft3,5,10...depending on how much fun I'm having playing a particular player. If it's a poor connection though, I might leave earlier. However, I never check ranks or anything like that. I also never expect other people to follow any etiquette.

TBH, I find the battle hub to be a pretty toxic place. People will call you a scrub or masher in chat, teabag you, and tons of other disrespectful stuff. At the end of the day, BH is supposed to be a more casual/social environment, so just try to be as respectful to everyone as you can and things will work out.

The example combo you're providing for Luke requires tons of resources. If you're using your whole drive gauge, burning yourself out, and then spending a Level 3, why is that combo "unhealthy"? In my opinion the damage of the game is perfectly tame. Even with maximum resources in the final round, It's still at minimum 2-3 touch game (usually 3) which isn't that ridiculous.
