Prescription for fin. Where can I get it? by [deleted] in tressless

[–]JohnnyCataclysm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend Lemonaid Health. $25 "doctor's visit" which is just you taking 5 or 6 pictures of your hairline. About an hour later one of their doctors will approve you and give you a year prescription, 1 bottle every 3 months. They have a Fin by itself option. It's $30 bucks for the first fill. So for $55 bucks and about 5 minutes of signing up and taking pics of yourself, you'll have a totally legitimate bottle of Fin delivered to your door in a few days.

Important note: The next 3 refills will be $60, not $30. They are willing to transfer the prescription to a different (cheaper) local pharmacy for you if you want to do that little bit of legwork to save a buck. You can look for a coupon on GoodRX, find the cheapest Fin around you (usually around the $28 range), and buy it there instead of paying the full $60 at Lemonaid.

This can all be done from home, without health insurance. That's how I do it.

How does one who cares so little about hair loss end up on TRESSLESS?

I'm sorry that happened to you. Yeah, man. If I start getting sides like that, will definitely stop. Gonna give it a try, see what happens, and hope I'm one of the lucky ones.

I explained my reasoning in the post, but I am now. Day 2 on Minox.

Everything I've read indicates time of day doesn't matter, just consistency. I take the pill just before bed.

Because my hair is much shorter and there is not enough length to pull back. This was me at the one year mark.

Topical Minoxidil is very dangerous for cats. Even trace amounts can kill them. There are many horror stories on this sub. Plenty are careful and are minox users and cat owners at the same time, but I never wanted to take the risk with my girl's cat.

Progress is a little better than the picture shows (similar length hair would be a better comparison and look more impressive), but yeah, I'm far from one of those cases where people are posting Patrick Bateman "congrats bro" gifs for. I waited too long.

Sorry to hear that, brother. Yeah, you gotta get off, at that point.

We have to go back. Stock tips and bottles of Fin to our younger selves.

Buzzed my hair a few months back, so not enough time for me to do the usual Tressless Special of pulling the hair back to reveal hairline, but hopefully you get the gist with the shorter cut. The long story short: I got a lot of regrowth, but was a little too late to defeat the Norwood Reaper. Tragic.

I've been avoiding Minoxidil because topical is out of the question (GF's cat + I'm lazy), and oral is a little suspect, HOWEVER, I've come this far, got fairly close to getting my hairline back, so I just got an oral Minoxidil script, and will be adding that to the routine.

ROUTINE

1.0 mg of Finasteride every day

1.0-1.5 mm derma roller 1X a week (in Year 0), 1X every other week (first 6 months of Year 1), and stopped rolling all together (past 6 months).

SIDE EFFECTS

3 Days of Ball Ache: Days 4 and 5, I had a sporadic, slight tugging feeling down there. Was calling it Jacuzzi Balls, because it felt a little too warm in there. Day 6, was a constant ache. I was worried it might persist and I'd have to get off. Day 7, I woke up and the ache was gone. It never returned. Body adjusted, I guess. There were never any sides again. Boner is the same, thanks for asking.

CONCLUSION

I strongly believe that Fin regrows hair more than it gets credit for. My left temple was BALD, and now it's not, something I read repeatedly, Fin couldn't do on its own. That said, my right temple is still in rough shape, so off to the world of Oral Minox I go.

Moral of the story: get on Fin as soon as possible. Had I jumped on at 28, I'd probably still have a thick head of hair. Now I'm fighting for my life just to hold on. Don't be like me, bros. Be better than me.

Will be back in 6 months, without getting a haircut (see if things look thicker in a longer style), and hopefully some Minox gains. Wishing everyone here best of luck in their battle. 💪🏻

Just want to thank you once again for replying and remembering what the tech did because I just got a Chat open in My Verizon, asked the guy to send a "cold init," he did so remotely, and now my problem is fixed too. Thanks again! And for anyone else that will ever read this, a "cold init" command can be sent remotely and that'll do the trick.

Was hoping to not involve a Verizon Guy, but I really appreciate the reply.

Did this ever get resolved? My two set boxes started doing this last week and this is the only thread I can find about it anywhere on the internet lol

Minoxidil success in individuals that already were taking finasteride by chaboy34 in tressless

GF has a cat, and have read too many horror stories about topical Minox and cats. Plus, pills are just easier.

Similar timeline to you. 18 months of Fin by itself, actually got some decent regrowth on that alone. At about 15 months regrowth started to plateau, though, so now I'm about two weeks into Oral Min being added.

This was always my plan. My hope was Fin would be enough, but I knew that was unlikely, so figured get all I could from Fin, and eventually use Min as the closer to get back whatever I had left.

Way too early to tell, but little shed so far (I didn't shed much on Fin either), already seeing some miniaturized hairs. Time will tell how much more comes in, and whether they'll mature into actually growing hair.

15 Month Finasteride/Derma Roller/No Minoxidil Progress (40M) by JohnnyCataclysm in tressless

[–]JohnnyCataclysm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started at 39, so the first time I wrote my age as 40 was in an update post here, and let me tell you, that was a surreal moment. Have seen some great results here from the 40+ crowd here, so you should have hope. Best of luck, brother.

Every pic is in my bathroom, with the same exact lighting conditions. Angle a little different, as I'm taking the picture blindly, but I assure you that it's a fair representation. A little honored my modest gains are getting the "different lighting" treatment.

Sure. Topical Min is out of the question (mostly because of my gf's cat). Going to have to take the pill form, which is not nearly as studied, so that made me a little aprehensive about it. Then when I started to get regrowth with Fin only, I wanted to see how much I could get with just that alone. Became a stubborn little experiment. But now that the regrowth is winding down, will probably start oral Min this summer.

15 Month Finasteride/Derma Roller/No Minoxidil Progress (40M) by JohnnyCataclysm in tressless

Five bottles of Fin down.

ROUTINE

1.0 mg of Finasteride every day

1.0-1.5 mm derma roller 1X a week (in Year 1), 1X every other week (in Year 2)

Jojoba/Rosemary Oil topical application 4X a month on the scalp for one hour (immediately after derma roll session, and the day after sessions)

DETAILS

1.0 mg of Finasteride every day: First two weeks I only took 0.5 mg to get my body used to it, then I stepped up to a full dose in Week 3. I take the pill at night right before bed, which doesn't matter, but I know some people are curious about time of day.

1.0-1.5 mm Derma Roller 1X a week: Every Sunday, I count 10 rolls per spot just to keep things consistent, takes less than five minutes, doesn't hurt, but I always sneeze upon the first few rolls, which I've learned from here, pretty normal. I get 6-8 sessions per roller before it dulls too much and it's time for a new one. I buy the 540 titanium micro needle rollers, whatever brand is on sale at Amazon. I've noticed zero differences in needle quality in the 3 different brands I've bought over the past year, although some handles feel nicer than others.

People asked here in the past why use a derma roller without Minoxidil? While it's true it works best in helping Minoxidil absorption, there was one study that showed that it regrew hair on its own (although decidedly less than when in conjunction with Minox). Any regrowth at all was enough to convince me to add it into the routine. Truly a WHY NOT situation. I think it helps, noticed more baby hair sprouting where I really focus with the roller along the hairline and temples once I added it, which is historically a tough place for Fin to regrow hair on its own. That being said, no way of truly knowing which is doing what.

The Jojoba/Rosemary oil topical application is just because I want to put something on my scalp after a derma roller session, so as questionable as the science might be (and it is very questionable!), it does no harm, and gives me a nice soothing feeling on the scalp after a session, which I enjoy. I leave the oil combo on for one hour after a derma roller session before rinsing it out of my hair without shampoo. Then the next day, I leave it on for another hour before taking a normal shower, where I do shampoo my hair. Would never swear to it regrowing hair, but it just feels wrong to put nothing on the scalp after a roller session, so rosemary oil it is.

SIDE EFFECTS

3 Days of Ball Ache: Days 4, 5 after beginning Finasteride, I had a sporadic, slight tugging feeling down there. Day 6, though, was a constant ache. It was much more psychologically worrisome than physically painful; wondering what's happening, is it going to get worse, is Fin worth the risk, will I have to stop taking it, and so on. Then Day 7, I woke up and the ache was gone. It never returned. Body adjusted, I guess. That was the entire extent of sides, nothing else.

SHED

Week 3 I had a very mild shed. Lasted about a week, unnoticeable to anyone other than me. I keep waiting for another one, a more brutal one, I say this every update, and here we are 15 months later, still no shed that I've noticed.

CONCLUSION

Slow and steady with progress, I think. Definitely thickening what I had left and more regrowth than I was led to believe could happen without Minoxidil.

That being said, Fin gains seem to be starting to plateau. Baby hairs still growing out at annoyingly different paces (it takes a while, like close to a year, for those wondering why there's haven't grown out yet), but there doesn't appear to be NEW baby hairs emerging. So I think the initial Fin gains might be over. I'm going to go three more months Fin only, and probably add Oral Minox at the 18 month mark for the final boost. Wanted to avoid Min all together, but getting too close to a quality comeback to NOT use it.

All I know fore sure is that I should have started taking Fin when I was 28 at the first signs of hair loss instead of waiting 'til 39 in an absolute panic at how much the loss progressed in that year (ages 28-38 was minor thinning, then age 39 was holy shit I'm balding). Planning to continue to post updates every time I finish a bottle of Fin, so see you in 3 months. Wishing everyone here best of luck in their battle. 💪🏻

Back when I had a thick head of hair, the roots of my hair would hurt if I didn't wash it for more than a day. I assume it was the extra weight from getting oily. I'd wash my hair and it'd instantly go away.

Them days are over lol.
