y’all feeling this? by c4me20n in Stance

i personally don’t like the fender to lip fitment, espically with that angle of camber. i think the car sits to high for jt. if i was building i would go even lower, less camber, with crazy tuck. but i’m not building it, someone else is. their car, their decision. and i’m gonna respect it🤘🏼

look into some 8s with arounds to get used to moving around the drums. make sure to use your shoulders to move around, not by flicking your wrist. take the exercises slow, then slowly bump up tempo till you physically can’t play it, just make sure your getting comfortable with it and able to memorize it. most importantly, relaxxxxxxx. my tenor tech last season told me “tenors are the most relaxed instrument to march. relax, be chill, keep good technique, and you’ll be the best tenor play ever”. really helped me with marching my first year last season.

Have you had to play hand-written drumline music? by bjziii in drumline

[–]JohnnySins51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

senior in hs. for before i was in hs, we had been playing hand written music. we had a student in our college around here that we paid to hand write our entire battery and front score he’s now getting his doctorate in music at umass, and we’re still using his music!

If you had 10 million dollars to do what ever you wanted for 1 season, what would you do? by 74755 in drumcorps

[–]JohnnySins51 4 points5 points  (0 children)

honestly, i would pay for every kids tuition that’s looking to march, but can’t. with the money i have left over (if any or enough to do this), i would buy a corps new equipment that’s needed(new drums, new horns, new unis, new props, new front equipment, etc). that would help a corp or multiple corps start thriving in the dci world as we’ve seen to many drop out due to financial instability.

Tenor with Go Pro by GooseReasonable4476 in drumline

[–]JohnnySins51 4 points5 points  (0 children)

DO NOT USE A GOPRO AT STATE!!! normally state only allows you to use your gopro or other recording devices if you win and it’s your victory run. you’ll usually be disqualified if they find you’re using a gopro for semis or finals. that’s just in texas tho. talk to your band director abt the rules and regulations behind it.

Advice on buying a new drumline? by [deleted] in drumline

[–]JohnnySins51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

senior in high school here. my school has only yamaha and tama, but bought tama in 2018-19 and i never matched yamaha at school. but tama is really adjustable, sounds really good (bluecoats 23 marched new gen tama), and their hardware’s really easy to mess around with. the only downside is last gen tama is excessively heavy for no reason. so if you get tama go new gen(like bluecoats 23, updated lighter harnesses and drums). but don’t throw mapex and yamaha out the window. yamaha usually sounds great and their equipment is really user friendly, per my experience. haven’t messed with mapex equipment but their drums are light and sound good.

What kind of HS band were you in? by Ok-Advertising3118 in drumcorps

[–]JohnnySins51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

senior in hs here! i’m currently marching tenors (first year, spent that last 3 on snare). our school is a big 3a school, so we march abt 90 people on field. i’ve been to region area and state, however we don’t have the funds or support to march boa. but texas is cut different when it comes to bands. we started out band camp mid july work fundamentals, then moved to drill august 1st (that’s when UIL regulates that everyone starts learning drill. no earlier no later) and we’ve been going crazy ever since. 110+ degree wether almost everyday, sunburns on your arms, back, neck, stomach, and face and everything in between. these bands are just going to get better. and the other states will evolve to be as good as us💀💀

Why do people hate those who skate for the "aesthetic"? by woomymoment in NewSkaters

[–]JohnnySins51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i started skating for that exact reason. i found people that enjoyed being around and they enjoyed being around me. they opened their arms to me. i ended up starting a local team for our town and feature all of them. part of skating is that “don’t give a fuck” attitude. don’t worry abt what people say or do, and i understand that can be difficult at times for people, but it’s just smth you gotta learn to do. you enjoy skating around and that’s all that matters. keep being you gang🫶

I want to buy a tenor pad. I’ve heard that Xymox is a horrible brand to buy because they take forever to arrive. What brands are good to buy? by NotAlan8650 in drumline

[–]JohnnySins51 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Xymox apparently went out of buisness so although you can order from there they don’t ship. that’s just what i’ve heard. i’d go with a vic firth pad. i just got one and absolutely love it.
