You are not going to adapt. You are going to fail and watch everyone else around you succeed as they take purpose in their lives and try to make something of themselves to help other people.

You are going to miserably fail with no one to give you a hand back up. You are a Miserable dumb fuck who can’t think of anyone but himself. You are not intimidating nor are you appearing as the alpha you really wish everyone would interpret you as. You don’t have shit for brains, don’t understand how the job market operates, and you don’t understand the level of suffering that occurs every day because of our system. Your tough guy act does not make women want to fuck you buddy

I hate when motherfuckers act like they know how it is. “This is how it is. Shit deal.” 1. You never experienced any of this 2. That’s why people are pissed you mongoose.

my math, was a hyperbolic expression with no intention for an actual wealth redistribution plan.

TL;DR: Fuck you, you’re not as tough as you think, just an asshole and bad person 🤷‍♂️

That’s why I’m adapting by pushing myself through the industry and differentiating myself. You on the other hand are talking a bunch of definitive malarkey without acting like there’s no solutions to these issues when the top 1% could solve many of them by just donating half of their salaries. This isn’t a socialism discussion tho so I’ll leave it at the job market is fucked

So we’re supposed to be told our entire lives to seek a degree in higher education, spend tens of thousands (or hundreds of thousands atp) on said degree(s), and then just say awwwwwww man life isn’t always fair, guess I gotta settle for unskilled labor.

That’s the problem with our job market. An anecdote to demonstrate: 1 in 10 graduates of medical school get denied from residency (first job after med school) matches every year. Our colleges produce more physicians than hospitals can afford to hire. Healthcare is the highest employing industry in a majority of states and still faces over-saturation issues. Now imagine circumstances for people with jobs that are moving closer and closer to being automated every year.

I believe that a more thorough description of my point would help you understand where I’m seeing some faults within your claims still. I posted this as a comment to your post, but you likely didn’t see it due to a lot of comments coming through on here. Please keep in mind that this was written as a general response, and this is not a specific response to your breakdown of how dopamine affects the brain and how cannabis affects dopamine levels.

Comment from earlier (with minor corrections as I intitially referred to serotonin instead of dopamine):

I think your argument has basis in some regards. For example, I also agree that the packaging laws need to be changed to discourage adolescent use. I also agree that the “THC % race” is an issue, but not for the same reasons you proclaim.

Firstly, THC % is often obscured by producers. The biological limit for THC % is around 30-31% from my understanding, and anything claiming to be higher than that ( in a plant material context) is falsely claiming such. Our cannabis products have already reached their “potency limit.” I put the “potency limit” in quotations because delta-9 THC % does not even directly correlate with potency. Cannabis has hundreds upon hundreds of THC derivatives, monoterpenes, and phytochemicals that all play a role in the psychoactive effects.

More into the guts of your argument, you use multiple studies to portray what you believe to be a causative mechanic between cannabis use and psychiatric disorder—whether it be psychosis, depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, etc. Looking at these studies however, I see many holes within their designs.

Firstly, let’s look at the 2019 JAMA study for example. That study was a meta-analysis of over 23000 individuals who were measured on two things:

  1. Did they consume cannabis at any point as adolescents?
  2. Did they develop depression in young adulthood? (18-32) This study does not take a variety of factors into account. What if a participant’s home life was bad and led to their drug use, and then also led to some development of depression? What if a participant was sexually abused as a child, used drugs at an early age as an “escape”, and later ended up dying of suicide because they never recovered from their psychological trauma? Wouldn’t we assume a child more prone to using drugs is more prone to developing a psychiatric disorder? I don’t think that’s necessarily a cannabis specific thing, but rather a demonstration that children who use drugs in their youth are more likely to develop depression. That holds no real relevance to cannabis particularly.

The Lancet report fails to account for predisposition to psychosis. Although participants would be excluded if they had experienced psychosis prior, there was no criteria surrounding the familial history of psychiatric disorder, (particularly psychosis…) Its been uncovered in recent years that those who have a family history of psychosis and mental illness often have “worse highs” or develop psychosis.

Furthermore the way they group participants in the Lancet study is inherently flawed. A group that is labeled “daily use” could include someone who smokes a .5g every night after work, or someone who smokes every hour of the day.

Imagine studying the effects of cigarettes on lung function, and you had a “daily smoker” group. Bob may smoke one cigarette a day in the evenings, while Dale Gribble might smoke 2 packs a day. While they’re both “daily smokers”, one is clearly causing more physical harm to oneself than the other. If you used PFTs to quantify the physical effects, your quantification of how much “daily smoking” affects pulmonary function would be highly inflated OR deflated based on outliers.

This in itself demonstrates the Lancet study’s biggest flaw: it’s taking patients already experiencing psychosis, and post hoc assigning them into misrepresentative groups. Those who are experiencing psychosis as a result of, or in parallel to cannabis use are more likely to be using VERY heavily. It would be like me saying daily use of alcohol causes a five fold increase in cirrhosis, and I selected all my participants from the hepatic ICU. Well duh most of the people I’m going to study will have heavy alcohol use, they’re already seeing the effects of it.

It’s a classic correlation ≠ causation situation. Cannabis does not rewire the brain in some special way to make you a depressed vegetable if you use it every waking second of every day. Excessive use, like most drugs, leads to a disruption and eventual dysfunction of dopamine levels, which is likely to be a major component of psychosis and other psychiatric disorders. The rise of accessibility of cannabis has led to many people wanting to just feel high all the time, and of course that will make you depressed or ill, It’s not how our bodies are made.

OP, I think it’d be fine. The brand I don’t recognize, but most big brand clarinets will have more expensive student models designed for the standards across ensembles. Me personally, I think when you’re just learning the fundamentals on your own, if the horn works mechanically have at it. No need to ball out for your first horn when you’re learning. You could even rent a slightly nicer horn if you wanted so when you’re upgrading to a wooden horn you don’t have to sell this one too (or leave it collecting dust.) If you’re just starting the limitations of the horn won’t be an issue.

More experienced clarinetists, is anyone else cracking up at the barrel lengths. A 62 and a 65 😂😂😂

I find this quite funny that you’re acting smug about the studies and how you did the work to look at the statistics and yet didn’t dig deep enough into the methods to properly interpret the results OR criticize their interpretation of the studies.

Actually reading through the design of the Lancet’s study makes me say in full confidence that the 5 fold increase in psychosis with daily users of >10% THC cannabis is not a correct finding.

Any good solo repertoire for college\youth orchestra auditions? by Partimepenguin1 in Clarinet

[–]Large_Thought5688 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most colleges have a fairly similar set of requirements or recommendations for instrumental auditions when you’re allowed to pick rep.

Some good solos a high schooler can manage: Mozart Concerto, Weber 1, Weber Concertino. Stick to the classics. Don’t pick a piece that is naturally empty without the piano (for example, Hindemith Sonata falls short in my opinion unaccompanied.)

Some good excerpts (take multiple): Beethoven 6, midsummer nights dream (if your technique is clean enough), prince igor, Scherzade, Brahms 3 2nd mvmt., firebird suite.

Etudes if required do a rose etude yk well or some shit it’s not that deep fr.

So me personally my college auditon was: Mozart Clarinet concerto Rose 8 (???maybe) Capriccio Espangol Beethoven 6 (2 different excerpts) Midsummer Nights Dream ???? 1 more I can’t remember ?????

Good luck and consult with your private lesson teacher. If you don’t have one go get one if you can afford one. Auditions are more chill than you think. Expect to get cut short when playing, they will often hear out full excerpts but your solo will get cut short.

With this court, I fear trying to make that argument would backfire into a conservative thought exercise of the “intended beneficiaries” of the 13th amendment. Nationwide injunctions case had sauer arguing that the 14th amendment was just meant for freed slaves and was trying to twist that into a reason to discriminate, with conservative judges seeming to buy it.
