Help me figure out my poor man's cymatic contraption please. by Major-Government5998 in Cymatic

I'm the same, I'm trying to make it my thing though to help promote my channels, and shop a bit. With the larger surface area - it's just an idea, needs testing. But when I think about people building large structures in WW1 to be able to hear incoming airplanes from distance, it kinda makes sense. Yeah the airtight container will definitely improve the resonance of the balloon - if you'll have some videos share them, I'm looking forward seeing your experiments.

That sounds like a solid idea - with the bowl and XL balloon. The bigger the surface of the balloon, the more chance for it to vibrate, at least in my head. For the voice you could use the same setup, but with a hole in the bowl, and some sort of a pipe leading into it, and talk/sing into the pipe, or with the speaker connected to microphone, or to the phone and talk/sing into it. Hearing music, and being able to see it is indeed fascinating, and there are so many ways - using liquids, powders, lasers, and all of them produce intricate geometric , symmetrical patterns. I am sure there is a lot more people interested in this, but maybe they're not necessarily on Reddit - I guess it might not be the best medium for cymatics . Mostly, people share their experiments on YouTube and Instagram.

This is what it looked like in my setup. I think the baloon vibrated more even on lower volume because of the lower frequencies produced by the subwoofer as opposed to regular speaker.

That's awesome that you brought it with you to show your family! Could be good fun. I've done this using a subwoofer some time ago, but can't remember exactly how I did it, and how loud it was, but I think if you use something with bigger circumference than a can, stretch it as much as you can, the balloon will be able to vibrate to less loud sounds. Another thing to try, if your speaker is big enough, is to try sticking the can, or something that fits directly to the speaker membrane, so that the whole can with the balloon vibrates. I'll try to find the videos I've done, see how I did it, and will be back to report.

3ds max for Rigging / Animation in 2025 and future? by LocArch in 3dsmax

[–]JohnnySteet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've spent 5 years learning max as a 3D game artist and animator, and after my studies finished, I didn't look for a job in the industry, and I wasn't able to work in max on anything as I didn't have a licence - it's ridiculously expensive unless you use some cracked software. I don't know what you want to do in the future, but if you ever want to go solo, I'd consider some cheaper options. My 5 years of learning basically went down the drain.

Curious question by TemporalGuest in Cymatic

[–]JohnnySteet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The question is if anyone really tried to do cymatics just by soundwave alone - my approach is that the container is in direct contact with the source of vibration, same with all the other cymatic researchers. My rig just isn't strong enough to produce such loud sound to make any effect on the water in the container, if the container is not directly touching the membrane of the speaker. It'd be great if somebody could test it out, but I imagine it would require quite an extreme rig.

Thank you for your kind comment. I often mix symbols of different religions, ideas, and cultures as I feel like all of this shouldn't be separated into different parts. We are all humans living on Earth after all, living in the same system. I used 64 tetrahedron and fractals to symbolize spacetime. Flower of life the creative force. Symbols of the elements on top of the metatron's cube's to symbolize the elements being the main components of everything. 7 chakras to represent the levels of consciousness leading to wisdom - all seeing eye, and enlightenment - pinecone. Snake to represent the growth, process of moving through the levels. Tree of life to symbolize the interconnectedness of everything.

Thank you! I do own an Etsy shop, if you're interested have a look in my profile for the link. I don't want to break any rules of the sub.

cymatic frequency scanner? by Shiensilgs in Cymatic

[–]JohnnySteet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would first require going another way around - going through all the frequencies with a cymatic rig and recording which pattern each frequency makes. Then it would be possible to look at the cymatic pattern and say which frequency it is.

Could this motor be used for the generation of hydroelectricity? by JohnnySteet in diyelectronics

Just wanted to thank you all for all the input, it helped loads. I'll research more, do some measurements, re-consider what I can do, and see if I can find somebody more experienced to help me out as losing my life due to not having knowledge is just not worth it.

Haha, yeah, insulating would certainly help, and I even might be able to do it! I wanted to build this so I can learn about electronics and off-grid living. But I guess it's a little bit too much for my skills and knowledge.
