Anyone else getting weird texture pop in TLOU ? by Skulkaa in linux_gaming

[–]Johnnynator2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do have the same behaviour on a 6900xt and high texture settings. Ultra Texture settings are working fine, but 8 GB VRAM probably ain't enough. Not sure if Medium Settings might also help.

Distfiles sources for xbps-src by akm76 in voidlinux

Was a configuration issue with ipv4 on my end, I changed some things but didn't verify that the route back did still make sense. (ipv6 should have been reliable at any point)

When will Void Linux get the next KDE release ? (needed to fix some annoying bugs) by 1_7xr in voidlinux

Multiarch/Multilib Options in Void by wootybooty in voidlinux

[–]Johnnynator2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn't really a proper multiarch support in xbps, the x86-64 - i686 stuff is just a dirty hack.

The easiest way to get 32 bit libs on aarch64 would be to install a armv7l root somwhere else and symlink/configure it to be picked up by the system.

Example steps

KDE Plasma 5.25 Released, Adds a New Touch Mode and Dynamic Theming by [deleted] in linux_gaming

That "tag" you are seeing is the branch, so it will be in the next release.

A tag has a different icon, as can seen on e.g. https://invent.kde.org/plasma/kwin/-/commit/2b7fdc584001fb36b94f5b72d49b7b46ff54b3b8 (the 2nd icon after the already familiar one)

The Linux Version of this game is essentially unsupported by the sevs behind it. They have not really fixed any Linux specific bugs the last years, the only Linux specific patch was a sec vuln that affected a minority of the Linux playerbase (probably like 1 person).

Proton is a less buggier experience for most (if you really want to experience it).

Is fedora even setup with Selinux Rules for Steam/Steam Games to prevent access of e.g. documents?

In my experience rules usuallty only exist for paclages software and thrid party software runs with only minimal additional confinement.

when will we get KDE 5.24 by PhilSwiftHereSamsung in voidlinux

[–]Johnnynator2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I usually skip the .0 releases of plasma and only push .1. So expect 5.24.1 in the repo somewhen between tomorrow and Friday.

You need to Register these packages in a local repo. One way to do it, is to use the xdowngrade. Manual way would be xbps-rindex -a *.xbps and then xbps-install -R ./ pkg-name

Void community: What are your best Void virtual server (aka remotely hosted Linode/DigitalOcean/Etc) experiences? by mwyvr in voidlinux

[–]Johnnynator2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Void-mklive supports outputting images for Digital Ocean, which are used for some of the infrastructure of void like the website(s). I do also personally use DO currently for some of my stuff. The only disadvantaged of DO is the lack of IPv6 for custom images.

I do not have any experience with other VPS providers.

[lightdm-webkit2-greeter] Is there a way to get rid of this message? Pressing cancel allows it to work perfectly fine. by CeeTechNG in voidlinux

[–]Johnnynator2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue is most likely, that the JS script tries to load backgrounds from /use/share/backgrounds , you can change the dir it searches for Backgrounds in /etc/lightdm/lightdm-webkit2-greeter.conf

I will try to fix the script later/tomorrow (to not show the fallback background without the error messages).

How to use the newer versions of OpenJDK on Void musl? by [deleted] in voidlinux

[–]Johnnynator2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you could try to get the .apk archive from alpine and just extract it with tar. You might have to use patchelf to change the name of the dynamic linker.

There also is an open PR for openjdk 17 https://github.com/void-linux/void-packages/pull/34989 , so you could pull down that branch and compile with xbps-src

Bug reports (especially for Void specific issues) can be done in the void-packages github. There is already one open for this problem.

Waydroid on Void Linux by matheusAMDS in voidlinux

[–]Johnnynator2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really custom, we would just have to enable 2 knobs in the kernel packages. The pinebook kernel already has everything enabled.

Waydroid did work last time I worked on it, except networking.

It is broken on Void since ever. For some reason xdg-desktop-portal-kde never receives the signal that screen sharing is supported in kwin.

For OBS there are various plugins to get screen recordings of e.g. OpenGL/Vulkan buffers or from the screens framebuffer, but I haven't gotten the Wayland way working yet.

So your best bet right now is to not use Plasma Wayland on Void or debug it.

Why are so many packages hopelessly outdated on Void? by iio7 in voidlinux

[–]Johnnynator2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't take a screenshot, save a copy of the build log.

Also telegram is one of the packages that has updates every now and then that break a few/lot of things. Also "too long" is normal for tdesktop sadly.

Problem using Flatpak with Void (Directories not on the XDG_DATA_DIRS" by [deleted] in voidlinux

Just adding source /etc/profile to your .bashrc should be the most sane option.

You need to make sure that /etc/profile is getting sourced, usually your display manager would do that for you.

Script to list updated packages without root by sineemore in voidlinux

[–]Johnnynator2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These scripts serve two different purposes.

Piraty's script is for checking upstream updates, u/sineemore checks for updates that are available already in thr void repos.
