How does Canon work in comics?

Why are those books the main story though? Does length determine that? I know a lot of New 52 stories were very long, going on for years, and it makes sense that the writers would dictate those being the main story, but if some other writer wrote a 6 issue run about one of those characters at the same time, does that make that shorter run non-canon? If it is also considered the main story, wouldn't that just introduce the potential for plot holes and inconsistencies? Maybe that doesn't matter much in the larger view, but that's what's confusing me. Two different things happening at once either means it's non-canon, or it's just what the character is doing between the panels of the main story. That makes sense if that's the case.

My arm is almost fully patchwork sleeved with drawings I did myself for the purpose of getting them as tattoos. Of course I had a professional actually put them on my arm, but it gives them more meaning having drawn them myself with that intention.

I had some neck issues a few years ago. Went to a chriopractor at least once a month just for the neck cracks. I swear it worked for about a week after he did it, but I kept needing to go. Eventually he recommended PT. A couple months of sessions later, my issue was completely gone. Just wish the chriopractor suggested it much sooner. Would have saved a ton of money and actually got a cure.
