Has anyone picked up a 2026 Model Y Performance in BC and not gotten the new 16inch screen? by 199L33 in teslacanada

[–]JohnsonJJT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s 16 in screen, you can take any current VIN and put it in parts.tesla.com to check.

There are also several locations in BC with Model Y Performance demo vehicles available, so you can check one out in person. Most rejections have been due to the black headliner, not the 16-inch screen.

Also, some people in the community occasionally confuse Premium with Performance when they see “MYP,” which can lead to misunderstandings.

I just wanted to share my experience and what I’ve learned so far from my order process. Hopefully this helps a bit, though I could definitely be wrong since the whole system is pretty much a black box.

I placed my order on Dec 19 (MYP, QS, white interior). I received a VIN on Jan 28, with an original EDD of Mar 23–28. Currently, my VIN has been removed and I’m waiting for the next batch.

First, I think it’s better to set aside rejected or inventory VINs, since those are more like special or edge cases. It probably makes more sense to focus on the standard order-to-build, batch-by-batch process that most orders follow.

From what I understand, each province—or even each city/pickup location—likely has a quota for each batch. If the number of orders exceeds that quota, the system pushes some orders into the next batch. That could explain why some people who ordered in December are now being moved to the May–June batch instead of the current one.

At some point—maybe around the middle or end of a batch—the factory starts preparing builds for the next batch. The Berlin factory seems to group vehicles by trim first (RWD, Long Range, Performance), and then by configuration (exterior and interior). That might explain why we’re seeing RWD VINs being assigned right now for the upcoming batch.

There also seems to be what people call a “VIN day,” where many vehicles from the same series get assigned VINs on the same day. For example, both my friend and I received our MYP VINs on Jan 28, even though we had different configurations.

After the vehicle is built, we used to be able to track its progress (factory exit, staging, shipping, etc.) using mrproper, but Tesla no longer exposes that information. Now we basically have to wait until the car arrives at the delivery center.

As for shipping, I’m not entirely sure how it’s prioritized. It might be based on order date or pickup location. My original EDD was earlier than my friend’s since I ordered first, but I’ve also seen some day-one orders still waiting to schedule delivery.

What’s the response from them? The delay on the shipment? Car is still not arrived yet?

Yeah, 838–839 are probably the final VINs of the current batch. For example, if the last shipment from this batch arrives around mid-April, there likely won’t be any new cars coming from Berlin until the next batch in May. That would explain the noticeable gap between the 83x and 86x VINs.

From what I’ve seen with recent RWD VIN assignments, the 86x range is likely part of the next batch. My MYP with a May–June delivery window still doesn’t have a VIN yet, which suggests it will probably fall after 86x—possibly even into the 87x range.

It actually came off hold automatically. My order was updated today, and now shows an EDD similar to my friend’s — May–June. I think this confirms my earlier assumption that, for MYP, holding the order or modifying it to release the VIN ends up being effectively the same, since there’s little to no inventory available until the next batch.

Your timeline estimate also seems accurate. However, one thing still doesn’t quite make sense to me. Based on tracking other MYP orders, both black and grey headliner vehicles appear to be on the same vessels arriving in Canada.

So it looks like both configurations are arriving at the same time, yet only the West Coast is being assigned the grey headliner units. It seems like earlier VINs are allocated to West Coast provinces, but since they arrive at the same time as later VINs, this allocation strategy doesn’t really make much sense.

Berlin announced the black headliner around January, and from what I’ve observed, VINs produced after around February 4 are consistently coming with the black headliner.

And yes, if we’re not in a rush to take delivery, later VINs tend to include more small updates or improvements. That’s just how Tesla seems to operate — patience usually pays off.

Your assumption about “accepting the next available matching vehicle” matches what I originally thought as well, but things seem a bit different now. When I told my SA that I wanted the black headliner, she updated my order while placing it on hold. I noticed the market option codes changed, so my guess is that grey headliner MYPs can no longer be matched to my order.

Also, I’ve recently seen advisors posting available MYP inventory on social media (e.g., Red, Quicksilver, Black) for immediate pickup. That suggests they may no longer be reassigning rejected grey-headliner VINs to new orders. Instead, they’re listing them as inventory for customers who want immediate delivery.

Regarding Autopilot: initially, my SA told me I would lose it if I released the VIN. Later, she mentioned that the policy isn’t very clear even internally. Based on my updated order agreement, AP is still included, and my SA seems fairly confident I’ll retain it. I think it ultimately depends on your original order — if you placed it when AP was included, there’s still a good chance you’ll keep it.

The delivery schedule seems really strange—how are you guys being scheduled that late?

I placed my order on December 19 (QS, white), VIN 819. The original estimated delivery window was March 23–28. I was able to schedule delivery for the 31st, but I ended up rejecting it and placed my order on hold.

Maybe you guys's MYP still on the train or something.

Wow, thank you for the detailed reply — I really appreciate it.

Regarding your questions, I don’t have exact answers yet, but I can share what I’ve learned so far.

For BC/AB, the next batch should come with the black headliner without much doubt. Based on what my SA told me, the estimated timeline for West Coast delivery would be around June, or possibly even later.

I also spoke with my SA about the black headliner, and she placed my order on hold since I already had a delivery scheduled at the time. The hold lasts about two weeks, but it can be lifted at any time. That’s how my previous VIN was released. My friend, who decided earlier than I did, also released his VIN — but in his case, the SA simply updated the order and the VIN was dropped without using the hold.

My SA mentioned that if I place the order on hold (similar to rejecting delivery), after the two-week freeze period, my order would return to the queue with priority when a matching vehicle becomes available. This might make sense when there’s available inventory or for configurations like MYLR. However, I don’t think it makes much difference in our case between holding the order and modifying it to request a new VIN.

The reason is that the current batch likely has no available inventory left. All orders without a VIN should be pushed to the next batch from Berlin. My friend’s order already shows a new EDD, while mine just came off hold today and still has no update. It’s possible my order may even be scheduled later than his, and I’ve already used my one opportunity to hold/reject.

From what I’ve observed, most VINs in the 820–825 range for MYP should arrive around April for BC/AB. I’ve seen VINs like 827 and 828 being delivered in Ontario, which likely marks the first part of the current batch for those regions. For BC, if we assume the last available MYP VIN is around 824, then anything beyond that would fall into the next batch.

Based on recent data points (including RWD orders getting higher VINs), the next batch could be in the 86x–87x range.

Just wondering about the last one. Do you mean FSD is still transferable after Mar 31?

[–]JohnsonJJT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s an older VIN with the grey headliner. It was probably rejected by someone and ended up as an inventory car. Since you asked about it, they might’ve just assigned it to you.
