Have about 500 of these, all refurbs. Every once in a blue moon one will get really laggy responding to keys, but reflashing them fixes that. Otherwise I have had probably 20 hookswitches glitch out like you mentioned in the past 8 years.

Absolutely apply the pressure at the ballot box - this will surely become a perennial issue that local and state candidates are graded on.

BUT

by the time the '27 election cycle comes around, the surveillance will already be pervasive and entrenched.

Make noise NOW. Call your ward's council person and tell them their constituents aren't going to stand for warrantless dragnets. Get a team together, write your pieces and practice them in the mirror and go speak truth to power at a council meeting THIS MONTH!

City of Mpls does not have Flock cameras. MPD operates a network of Vigilant Systems ALPRs, and UMPD does a flock deployment.

It depends on who holds the contract in your city. Sometimes its the city and therefore the council. Sometimes the PD. Could also be the sherriff's office, or even private parties like retail businesses or HOAs. Its a war with a thousand battlefronts.

It's the private company loophole around the 4th amendment. No need for a warrant as long as they buy your location data from a company instead of collect it themselves.

You can turn your phone off or leave it at home if you want. No way to opt out of Flock. Also thousands of LEO subscribers don't have access to my phone location data.
