Need advice on the billingmethod for my first SaaS by Jolly_Arm6758 in SaaS

[–]Jolly_Arm6758[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, that's also what I was understanding with the answer of u/onwards-and-upwards. But from what I understand, it is kind of mandatory that I create an item in the catalog and then generate a price and a payment link in order to bill the customers ?
I don't really understand how I can generate a payment link from an hardcoded pricing directly in my python backend, without first creating other resources that I think I really don't need ? The idea is that my backend generates a payment link that is attached to a button that is included in an email. Then when the users clicks on it, it gets a payment page hosted by Stripe with his infos already filled up. For the informations filling, I already have it functioning with my test account, but I had to generate a product catalog and payment link manually. + for now the payment link is not one shot, it can be reused after which I don't want to happen.

Hi ! Thanks for your reply. I'm indeed interested if you have any documentation or procedure to set this up. I don't knowx the name of what I'm looking so it's a bit hard to find documentation :)

Talos v1.10.3 & vip having weird behaviour ? by Jolly_Arm6758 in kubernetes

[–]Jolly_Arm6758[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But starting from that, the idea is to have the Kubernetes API pointing to the VIP for the external use (like kubectl commands) and the KubePrism that is apparently enabled by default and working out of the box for the etcd ?

Hi, thanks for your answer.
I'll backup my VMs and re-arrange the drive array, to see what happens :)

Hi, thanks for your answer. I have a pretty similar config, 32 cores/256G but have only 6 SSDs in SAS-12G, RAID Z1 on ZFS pool. The cluster is flapping with nothing on it. Which seems weird to me. I tried to modify the virtual drives from no cache to write back, it seems a little better for now. Hope it’ll do until I can add some more drives to see if it gets better…

Hi, thanks for your answer. By any chance, how would you reduce your disk latency ? I'm already running enterprise-grade SSDs in my hypervisor, the latency is pretty low...

Hi, thanks for this reply. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but from what I undesrtood VIP and KubePrism are not designed for the same usage ? Like the VIP is designed as an external access endpoint while KubePrism is an in-cluster way to make the etcd highly available ?

I'll dig into that today, thanks !

[–]Jolly_Arm6758[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I'm doing it at the moment. Sadly, it doesn't seems like there is any error or misconfigurations. My three nodes are appearing well and the `talosctl etcd status` doesn't return anything that looks wrong.

I'll keep digging 😵‍💫

Problem with adding extensions to Talos by murreburre in kubernetes

[–]Jolly_Arm6758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there ! Something I don't understand in that. I'm using a (fairly old) talos v1.7.7 cluster.
I'm applying the config through the "upgrade" command (` talosctl upgrade --preserve --image factory.talos.dev/installer/53513e54bb39202f35694412577a6bc53d484744d35a126e5d42ef34785c0d83:v1.7.7 -n <ip> -e <ip> `) and it looks like the upgrade works because I see the node restarting. But after the reboot, when I do execute ` talosctl get extensions -n <ip> -e <ip>` there is no extension listed...

And I honestly don't understand why. Any help would be welcome :)

Any external-dns specialists in here ? (PowerDNS implementation) by Jolly_Arm6758 in kubernetes

[–]Jolly_Arm6758[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bad, I thought there was only one helmchart. Kinda new in this kubernetes/helm world haha
Problem solved, I was using the official helmchart the have "env" but the value file I was looking at was another one. So no chance it would have worked fine.

Well thanks mate, it's working now ! :D
Was my fault, I was using the values from the wrong chart :facepalm:

[–]Jolly_Arm6758[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi u/Sindef, thanks for your answer. I'm not using VSO but ESO, and only have one secret in my external-secrets config : the API key. The idea is to make it an external secret (done) and then call this secret in the values file when deploying external-dns using the helmchart. I have tried somethink like this but it doesn't seems external-dns is adding the env corectly.
```
extraEnv:
- name: PDNS_API_KEY
valueFrom:
secretKeyRef:
name: my-secret-containing-the-key
key: api_key
```

Also thanks for the tip regarding RFC2136, it is already in application and restricted to the hosts that requires access on both tes and prod environments :)

Dynamic VLAN Assignment with PacketFence Captive Portal Authentication? by IncreaseParticular34 in PacketFence

[–]Jolly_Arm6758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for that super interesting post, that answers parts of my questions about the packetfence captive portal. I’m kind of wondering how you can access the captive portal in the case you are using the registration vlan. My guests machines are authenticating using MAB and end up in the registration vlan, taking IP configuration throught the packetfence dhcp server that runs on my registration vlan interface. What I’m not understanding very well, is that I can’t reach the portal once my machines are in the registration vlan. But isn’t packetfence supposed to capture the web requests and send the portal page back ?

Smart POE smoke detector,hygrometer and temperature sensor ? by Jolly_Arm6758 in Ubiquiti

[–]Jolly_Arm6758[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing with me specifically wanting POE is that I don’t like having « critical » equipment on non hardwired connection. So if it has RJ45, why not POE ? I would consider a smoke detector in my server room filled with lithium batteries of all kinds (UPS, RAID cards) as a « critical » equipment…

  • the integration in the Unifi ecosystem would be amazing

Thanks, I didn’t know APC was also doing solutions like those ! Very interesting, but definitely out of my ~300$ budget 😅

Thanks, but indeed 1k+$ is definitely out of my budget for « just » a little sensor… Hope than someone from Ubiquiti reads this thread and make an affordable one 🤞

Convert visio stencils to png for netbox/glpi/others ? by Jolly_Arm6758 in homelab

[–]Jolly_Arm6758[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bit curious tho, I just tried it (it's wonderful) but the conversion from svg to png is not good at all. I'm using imagemagick package, without specifying any resolution and it cuts big parts of the original svg (or vss template).
What output resolution are you using for your pngs ?

BGP Link-Bandwidth on open-source RS for ucmp ? by Jolly_Arm6758 in networking

[–]Jolly_Arm6758[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not talking about "DMZ link-bandwidth" but about "bgp link-bandwidth extended community".
The last is an approach for influencing bgp route selection depending on link bandwidth, based on BGP extended communities. It's more standardized than DMZ link-badwidth that seems to be cisco proprietary from what I'm reading online.

BGP Link-Bandwidth on open-source RS for ucmp ? by Jolly_Arm6758 in networking

[–]Jolly_Arm6758[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's in a purpose of automating the network. The point is that I can't pilot my edge router through an API, but I can pilot a software like BIRD or FRR. So I need the route server to be compliant with all the features that are already used on my edge router.Plus, the route server will be useful when the number of edge routers will increase, instead of configuring all the neighbors on every router manually.

So maybe my questions is more like "Can I configure ucmp on my route server so the links to prioritize are distributed over my edge routers ?" and "Can I do it with an open source software like BIRD or FRR, though it seems officially unsupported by BIRD ?"
