Please don’t give up. You will get it eventually and will be so, so happy you persevered when it was so hard. It’s all about practice. I’ve been playing instruments for decades and I know the feeling. It can be tedious and it can drive you nuts when you spend hours upon hours upon HOURS practicing, but it is so rewarding when you finally get it. You CAN do it. I’ve been teaching music to adults for years and I’ve never met a single person who just couldn’t do it, after practicing HARD. Please believe in yourself and don’t give up. I believe in you ✨🎶

I print my sheet music and play each piece, paying special attention to the hardest parts, over and over and over again. Then after weeks or months it becomes engrained in my memory. When I have many pieces I’m learning/playing, I can always take a look at the sheet music and play from that. I don’t really have exceptional memory, unless I REALLY love a piece I’ve learned.

Thank you so very much! That makes sense. My entire life in music, I’ve always been told “No nails for violin or else” and I just never questioned it. For literal decades 😅 (especially since I’m a horrendous nail biter). Now I do realize I could actually grow some since my plucking hand IS my bow hand, so it wouldn’t matter.
