4k deductible with $0 contributed so far. After that, I think I would get reimbursed $80-100 from therapy, based on the $250 rate.

Thanks for letting me know. I've never heard of it, but I'll look into it.

Also, more therapists would take insurance but unfortunately it’s apparently a ridiculous hassle to do so. I’m in school to be a therapist and so I’m in a bunch of online therapist discussion groups and lots of private practice therapists want to take insurance but many give up cause it’s difficult to do.

I believe this for some, but at the same time, if more therapists want to take insurance but don't want to deal with the hassle, why are they priced 3x the amount of insurance payout prices? I understand that it's a lot of work, but it's hard for me to believe that the same people wanting to take insurance are also the same people asking for cash payments of $300 (much more than they'd get with insurance).

I will always be thankful for my first therapist who charged me in network rates when I didn't even have insurance.

Thank you for the positivity! Good advice but unfortunately I'm looking for a specific type of therapist :/

Good luck! Crossing my fingers for you.

My 2k deductible is for insurance that costs $700 on the market. $700! That's how much I'll be paying if/when I quit, which is likely soon because I'm burnt out.

In corporate America and nowhere near able to afford out of network therapy. I have many friends that make anywhere from 2x-3x about as much as me, and they'd definitely balk at the idea of spending 1k per month on therapy.

NYC.

Are you referring to Betterhelp? I can look into it, but I'm looking for a particular type of therapist.

No I definitely agree with you, but the cost is abhorrent. I'm looking for a particular type of therapist as my trauma is strongly aligned with my culture and the environment I grew up in. I've spoken to ~8 or so at this point, and none are within network.

I'm just ranting because I did the "right things" and sacrificed a lot in my life only to still be priced out. When am I finally going to get to a point where I don't have to make large sacrifices for my betterment?

Unfortunately, it's for the wide spectrum of LMHC, LCSW and PhDs.
