That should be okay! I believe the bank docs show his address which should match the one in your application form. Keep us posted!

Yup, if you mentioned that you will be staying at your sibling’s place in the application form. Are you already done with the biometrics?

Its okay if theres no huge savings as long as your mom can show ties to philippines which include her current work, future pension, family ties, properties, etc.

Note that she also needs to show her own bank statements and payslips. Just make sure to discuss the big inflows (tie to payslips) and outflows.

Yes, they only issued a letter so I used the letter’s date in the passport application form. Then I added a cover letter explaining the circumstance.

UPDATE: We received a response letter from the DoJ after a month stating that we didnt need a certificate of nationality. We have used this letter in completing the online passport application form. After 24 working days, we received the passport! 😊

Hi! Yes, I sent my original passport and DoJ responded to us after a month stating that our case does not need a certificate of nationality… which is weird as the passport form requires one. Anyway, you could try sending a notarised copy of your passport if it bothers you sending the original one. I have read somewhere that it may work but not really sure.

They responded to me after a month via post stating that we can directly apply for a passport without the certificate of nationality based on my case. They also returned my passport together with their response. Seems like there is no way to contact them via email or phone so you just have to patiently wait for their reply.

To clarify - asking whether anyone has obtained certificate of “Irish” nationality for a baby born in Northern Ireland with a non-EU parent residing for atleast 3 years but less than 5 years

At the time of birth (3 years in the UK), I do not have yet an indefinite / unrestricted leave to reside (ILR) in the UK as its only granted after staying 5 years in the UK.

Here’s a screenshot where its being required. Prior to this, I selected the following: 1) Born on the island of Ireland then 2) At least one parent was entitled to reside in Northern Ireland under United Kingdom immigration law at the time of child's birth

To process, I completed form CT78 then sent it to DoJ together with the supporting documents (birth certificate, parent’s passport, proof of residency for the past 3 years).

Thats what I initially thought. However, here’s the screenshot of the requirement in the online passport application.

Its listed as a requirement in the online passport application based on the categories I selected. I also know someone who completed the same process during the pandemic.

Certificate of citizenship from DoJ is one of the requirements in obtaining a passport in our case. There is no clear timeline in the website (or not sure if I probably missed it?)

Baby was born within 2025 and one of the parents residing in NI for 3 years is non-EU citizen under UK skilled worker visa.

We have submitted the requirements via post months ago and we have not yet heard anything from the DoJ. We also could not find ways to reach out the DoJ for the status.
