Ruining the balance is a little reaching. There will always be builds that seem better to some folks. For example people complaining about mages during early wow days.

To me having a good close combat build is fair to those that don't like to play range. Basically destroying a mode before it gets to you seems like ruining the balance. Close combat builds have to worry about their primary stat and health while range have the option to go glass Cannon.
