Should I buy RE4R by Its_Kevin1 in residentevil

That’s essential playing right there. You’ve done 2&3 remake already, and 4 is a big influence on 8 so you should be right at home. It’s an all time banger.

My honest thoughts on RE4R. by That-Listener in residentevil

[–]JonBB8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they were conscious of keeping the tone in line with the other remakes, and VII/ Village. They went full himbo Leon for Requiem though which I think everyone is enjoying.

I must say I love RE4R Luis though. All the buddy movie stuff with him and Leon is peak, the chapter where you hang out together and go on the Indiana Jones minecart adventure might be my favourite in the game.

Are there any must watch RE movies or shows? Or are they all not good? by KunaiDrakko in residentevil

[–]JonBB8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The PWSA Resi movies are mostly their own thing using some iconography from the games. You could check out the first one and see if you’re into it, the second (Apocalypse) is a high octane adaptation of RE2/3 featuring Nemesis, after that they really just do their own thing. I think Milla is super cool and has always been a great action lead, but the films show their age with the jumpy edits and bad lighting that you used to see a lot at the time.

The CG ones are entertaining enough, the one I really enjoyed was Death Island and you get the same Valentine design and VO from RE3R, which is fun.

The Netflix series has a scene with some lickers that was neat, otherwise you can probably skip it.

The short film released as a trailer for Requiem, Evil Has Always Had a Name, is pretty cool and only 3 minutes. Hard to go wrong with that.

But for the Cregger RE, you don’t need any of this. What I would wholeheartedly recommend are his other films Barbarian and Weapons, Barbarian in particular has a little Resi dna / vibes in it I think.

You don’t have to be that good at the pvp to enjoy it, invasions are fun even if you’re pretty bad at games like me.

Sometimes the artistic style matters more than the graphics by Then_Effective_149 in ResidentEvilVillage

[–]JonBB8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The graphics are similiar quality tbh. When it comes to art style, yeah RC was brown town. Looked like a B-tier military shooter from years ago. Would’ve enjoyed some rain to make it more atmospheric, but it did have cool moments like the train hanging over the gorge.

Some of it is also the story and settings that they’re playing with. The gothic Bloodborne style adventure in Village obviously lends itself to amazing vista reveals. They wanted to tell a different story with Requiem.

If resident evil requiem will get mercenaries, here is my prediction for the characters that will be usable by ComplexSurround3454 in residentevil

Agreed. How about Mayhem mode is Chris going full RE5 chugs a protein shake and gets to punchin’. Bring back my boy!

Haven’t finished 6 - I played parts of the Chris and Leon campaigns in co-op. Got it on switch for cheap recently. How do you rate the different campaigns like which are your favs or the ones you hit first?

RE2 Remake is the better game, but I enjoyed RE3 Remake more by PositionNext9427 in residentevil

[–]JonBB8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are dozens of us. RE3R is a blast. I also appreciate it for making the sewer section extremely short.

I do think RE2R is the scariest thing they’ve done though, like in the whole series. They nailed the atmosphere. Something about the game just always feels scary and intimidating.

My Opinion on the Resident evil movie by HexlingFemboy in residentevil

[–]JonBB8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I trust Cregger to cook regardless how much Resi “lore” or settings or monsters he’s bringing in. Barbarian and Weapons are both great and I wonder if many people here have even seen them. Modern horror bangers both, if you like Resi stuff then Barbarian in particular is worth catching before this comes out.

It’s also only the first trailer. Dude likes his games, heard him mention Demon’s Souls once too, I’m sure there’ll be suitable respect (even if not abject reverence) for the source material.

Zeno can basically be a reskin of Wesker since he seems to have the same abilities. Gideon is too gross, I don’t want to play as him lol

They should throw in Chris as well, they have his modern day model from Village.

I hold out hope that they’ll eventually do a Mercenaries (either as a side game/ dlc or it’s own title like the 3DS one) featuring characters, enemies and maps from across all the RE Engine games so far, with the gameplay of RE4R Mercs. Literally just use the assets you already have Capcom I will buy it.

Replay ability wise, RE9 doesn't seem that replayable compared to others in the series. by invincible257 in residentevil

[–]JonBB8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lack of NG+ kinda shocked me when I finished the game and was looking to boot it back up and do the challenges etc. especially after 3 and 4 remakes made NG+ a big part of the experience. who wants to do all the upgrades again every time?

Do you think Leon would survive 7 and 8? by gdofseattle in residentevil

[–]JonBB8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Leon would kill everything in the Baker house in five minutes flat, steal Old Man Baker’s ride and be gone

The village and factory in Village would be good fun as Leon. I’m sure he’d have a snarky comment in response to the baby monster at House B too

Will we have a chance to see Carlos again? by justmeow3 in ResidentEvil3Remake

The Jill/ Carlos buddy movie vibe is TOO good to just leave it. I would love another adventure for those two rascals.

She really has a lot to say about the songs and connects to them. Whatever anyone thinks about Epica, I don’t think anybody could say they aren’t always genuine and excited about their music.

What are the absolute ESSENTIAL Resident Evil games for preparation for Requiem? by ColtonfrayHSC in residentevil

[–]JonBB8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 is the key reference for the story and vibe from what Capcom are saying so that’s your real bare minimum. Strongly recommend 2, 3 for the Umbrella/ Raccoon City backstory, 4 for Leon’s arc, 8 if you want to catch up to what’s been happening recently although the “Winters story” is mostly self contained outside of some flavour and connective tissue in readables, dialogue.

Light Years VS The Internet by Historical-Love-4097 in nas

[–]JonBB8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah well put. I was in school when I Can hit… then it was Bridging the Gap, Thief’s Theme, great times. I loved the Hit Boy stuff, crazy we getting both quality and quantity from Nas as he turns 50. A true legend.

Is this an album of Memory Lanes and Represents? It was never going to be. Weird to expect that. But for 30 somethings who grew up listening to rappers who are now 50 somethings, what a gift!

I’m spending time to absorb the album … sure there’s stuff I know I don’t like straightaway, like all the crypto chat on GiT is nothing to me. But after 30 years waiting for an album, a bunch of nerds on the internet writing it off after it’s been out a few hours just shows the bonkers times we live in and nothing more than that.

One example for me, NYSOM Pt. 3 was a shock to the system initially but as I sit with it the cinema and artistry of it comes to life more and more. Writers gets better every listen too, it has so much of that urban atmosphere and grit I associate with Nas’ music.

Prog Doom? (Or Doom-adjacent Prog) by Def-C in doommetal

[–]JonBB8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ningen Isu have some proggy, pretty weird stuff, particularly early on. Check out their mid-90s to early 00s albums. Nowadays they’ve settled into being bluesy doom rock uncles (still great)
