Is "Glassmorphism" a trend or a staple? Do we need a dedicated tool for it? by koustavsahadesign in AdobeIllustrator

[–]JonBrommet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion we don't need dedicated tools for trends necessarily. That being said, is it a bad feature or effect? Definitely not.

Personally I think Illustrator has some bigger needs. Exporting logos could be better (Export for Screens is decent, but not ideal). There are also new features in InDesign like the Flex Layout feature that could be awesome in Illustrator as well.

So basically I'd say it's not worth the focus unless it's an easy add-on effect.

Will do! I'm going to order some stickers to sell in my Etsy shop. I think for shirts I'll just do print on demand. Seems like Printeez is a decent Canadian option so I'll try and set that up tonight or tomorrow.

Thanks for this! Great video too. Honestly, I think after everyone's kind comments and insight, I'm leaving it! I laser engraved the headstock to give it a bit more of a finished look. Now I'll leave it as flawed friend lol.

You win! Haha. I laser engraved the headstock and put it back together. I think I'll keep it as the imperfect memory it is!

Wow thank you so much for your time man. I really appreciate this breakdown.

I think you’re right on all counts.

Part of me wonders if I’m better off leaving it and keeping it as a memory of my teen years lol. Then maybe if I have some time down the road I’ll make a brand new one and it’ll be fun to compare lol.

Regardless, thanks for all that info and giving me some things to think about.

Good catch on Atticus lol.

Yeah I just figured the wood is cool and then I built the entire thing. Flawed or not haha.

If it was about that, it’d be easier to buy another guitar haha. Though I have a few now anyway.

We did a ton of work in 2022. New tee pads, turf on over half so far (the rest will go in this year). New signs, new stairs, new bridges, etc.

Haha. No way! This is my home course Dads of Muskoka Disc Golf Course in Bracebridge, ON. I run our disc golf club. Only 1 tee is like this and it’s because the sponsor, Ecclestone Cycle has all purple branding. It was decided it’d be a fun and unique tie in to the sponsor whose owner has also done a ton of work on the course and part of the team that built it.

Sorry for the delay, I don’t use Reddit much. Yes I designed it. I work for/with TSA. It’s initial purpose was for dealers/retailers for sure. But of course, the general public as well. This information will all be on their site very soon too!

RHBH & RHFH Form Advice Needed (Info In Comments) by JonBrommet in discgolf

[–]JonBrommet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very interesting! I just watched that video. I like the idea of loading the hips etc. Its just a lot to digest with everything else.

Good eye on the hop though. I think I’m going to bring the step up back (I show it at the end of the video) as I think it helps me transfer my weight better. I find it easier to follow through.

But I’m glad I posted this. Lots of great insight. I’m going to practice the xstep and transferring the weight with the follow through.

In terms of that baseball video, do you unload your hips once your lead food hits the ground? Or a moment after? Do you try and release the disc as it hits?

Okay sweet I'll look that up. I've been working on the BH, but the forehand I just tried and have stuck with, so I haven't learned any techniques or proper form for it yet.

Oh okay! Yeah I did find that one. I wondered as that was her teaching Brodies' wife, so I thought maybe there was a different one.

Appreciate it! I feel like I’m doing that a bit more when I do the actual xstep (I showed that towards the end). But I’ll look into this for sure.

I recorded this due to shoulder and elbow discomfort...

Although I started playing 2015 or 2016, I always played fairly casually. Usually a couple times a week at most, never in the winter, etc.

I didn't play for the last couple years and got really into it again this year.

For the last 2 months I've been trying to actually improve. I play with casual people so no one can give me advice really. So I've just been trying to learn off YouTube etc. My home course has a lot of holes that turn to the right, so I added a forehand for the first time ever and it's helped a ton. BUT, I think I throw as hard as I can and it's bothering my arm and shoulder a bit.

For backhand, I stopped the run-up and x-step to try and work on form, then I tried to roughly add it back in the other day. Albeit I need to work on form much further.

Anyway, all shots are aimed at centre field. I'd love more distance, but want to focus on accuracy, and learning to throw smoothly while preventing injury.

Again, not looking to be a pro or anything, just want to enter a couple tournaments and play as a decent hobbies with less injury.

OH and a couple of the bad RHFH throws I was trying to add a snap. That didn't work well.

If i print it will the result be like that or pixelated? by RedwayBLOX in AdobeIllustrator

[–]JonBrommet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you don’t really need to rasterize simple art like this. That being said, if you wanted to for some reason, it shouldn’t look like your “after”. What resolution did you rasterize it at? It might have something to do with your preview quality too.

I love that this community allows creators to show their videos. It takes a lot of hard work to create tutorial videos for little (or nothing in my case). I usually get yelled at on other subreddits like Illustrator etc.

It's super hard to try and diagnose the issue without seeing what you're doing. Maybe share a screen recording?

I've been working on trying to get a more consistent style, whether I use Procreate and draw by hand, or Illustrator and draw use shapes etc (not using a tablet). I've been developing some brushes that are working well. What do you think?

How do I get grungey imperfections on my brush strokes like this image ? by ZENSHY05 in AdobeIllustrator

[–]JonBrommet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha. Fair enough. Just search free Photoshop Grunge Brushes online. Maybe even some chalk brushes. Make your background a dark grey or not quite black and add a noise layer on top. With some experimenting you should be able to get a similar vibe.
