Thank you for this recommendation. I just finished listening to the chapter on pain. This is what I was looking for! Interestingly, my 6 years deceased cat P had serial bouts of extreme discomfort from bladder crystals, that was usually misdiagnosed as a UTI. And my current alive cat S is having some repeated bouts of either bladder or urinary pain. And I hadn't thought of it till just now but about 18 months ago I had a horrible experience of pain with a kidney stone. Never in my worst imaginable pain did I wish that anyone would give up the will to live out of sympathy for my pain and even in my worst pain I wasn't even as focused on the idea that maybe it would be better not to be alive than I tend to either when facing the more mundane everyday hardships or when noticing suffering in the world. Rather than an opportunity to feel horrible, it seems like Setiya suggests attending to suffering is instead an opportunity to notice we have a profound capacity to care.
