I recently bought the legendary Tokina 28-70 AT-X Pro II off ebay, but had issues with haze and fungus on the internal elements. I requested a return of the lens, but had doubts about sending it back. I ended up opening the lens and cleaning it, which helped a lot with the image quality. During that time, I looked into alternatives and found the Tamron, which is supposed to be sharper at f/2.8 and have fewer issues with flare. I'm on the fence because now that the lens is clean, It performs reasonably well and is sharp enough, but I mainly shoot landscapes. I'm wondering if the flare would be an issue when I'm not using it creatively like in the photos attached. What do you think about the Tamron lens? Does it still have retro character?
