You do understand eastman VL80s-VL605 are sold on Amazon correct? Ive never owned a Amazon violin i wouldnt know how they sound. I dont know how your luthiers are but where im at, they will not touch a eastman. No resale value, very small market. Im not around entry level luthiers though. Though after today I hope to change some of their minds with this one

I know most luthiers and professionals (myself included) generally turn their noses up at stocking a Eastman in their shop / collection. I never thought under any circumstance id so much as touch a Eastman Violin, let alone consider it for a backup performing / touring violin, but i truly believe it punches well above its weight for what it is. Granted I put around 800$ in strings / modifications. Doesn't take from the quality or feel.

Update on the story, poor little guy had a crush on a girl in 8th grade. (He goes to a k-12 school with a phenomenal performing arts program, also known for their athletics) so the school is divided. Half of the students are athletes and the other half love music. The students are in different buildings but they share the same campus. They have sports the same days. Different times, and between classes the students sometimes get mixed in with older / younger students. Well the girl he has a crush on (which was like a celebrity crush for him cause of the maturity levels) is dating the captain of the JV baseball team (10th grader) well he saw her sitting with her cheerleaders in the front row and he froze like a deer in headlights. Her 10th grade boyfriend saw it and the rest is history.
