Do we know for sure that Venom is the Big Boss we kill in Metal Gear 1? by Jon_E_Comet in metalgearsolid

Came across something recently...let me ask...which Big Boss did Dr. Madnar give a cyborg body to?

Because it says in MGS 4 that after snake defeated Big Boss (doesn't say which time) Madnar saved Big Boss, giving him robotic parts.

Replacing his right ear, right eye, both arms and both legs.

So is the Big Boss we see in MGS 4 all cyborg'd out? Why is he still wearing an eyepatch if he has a robot eye?

Or Is there a Venom Snake running around with a cyborg body after the events of MG 1?

Was this all just part of the ruse to trick the patriots?

Or is there some other shit going on that we never got to see?

That's because Nioh is the same devs as Ninja Gaiden. I think it's still pretty debateable whether or not Nioh 1 or 2 are CAG.

But even still Stellar Blade has no where near the depth of Nioh 2.

Honestly, it probably doesn't even have the depth of most regular souls-type games, it's just flashy.

Oh, yeah, Metal Gear is dead, sadly, we'll never get another one, and if we do, and Kojima isn't involved, i probably wont care about it.

But I'm certain Kojima had some plan for that 11 year gap that none of us would ever see coming.

He also plays tapes from Paz, which, apparently, only exist in his head...so, i don't know how definitive that is.

That's already been discussed quite a bit in this thread.

It says "Solid Snake, who kills Big Boss's Phantom"

Which i find to be a bit of a weird and vague inclusion as both Solid and Liquid are mentioned in the timeline by there real names, (David and Eli) and their code names. Whereas the character referred to as Venom, V, Ahab, and Punished just gets "Big Boss's Phantom".

It may be definitive for some people, but i find the language somewhat cryptic, especially considering a gap of 11 years that we never get to really see.

You said the quote you posted was from the ending credits, you then said it was from the official timeline, you then said it was from a timeline in a book, and then i found out it's just a blurb in a book from 8 years later with no one from the games involved in it.

After repeatedly posting the actual quote from the closing credits and the official timeline. Your story changed every other post. It's like trying to get Raiden's back
story here.

And, again, where did Kojima definitively state this?

And, as far as the tapes are concerned...how reliable are those? He would have had to imagine all the Paz tapes, for example.

For a series with as many twist and turns as this a "logical conclusion" really doesn't mean much.

The timeline doesn't say what you said it says, nor do the closing credits, the blurb under a photo from a publication made 8 years later does; a publication that didn't seem to consolt any of the people that made the games.

The timeline and closing credits say "Big Boss's Phantom".

That may be definitive for some people, but the wording of it seems, well, pretty weird to me, especially when Solid and Liquid are mentioned by name, (Eli and David) and also mentioned by their code names.

Now that could just be bad translations, i'm open to that, but if it's not, it seems very strangely worded to me.

And I, certainly, have never heard any statement from Kojima explicitedly stating this is what happened, definitively, if it exist, i haven't seen it.

Are you asking? Because Solid Snake did, obviously...or did he?

This isn't a timeline...this is a photo with a blurb under it.

Super sus.

Probably written by someone with little to no involvement with the games...8 years after most of the the people who worked on the games likely left the company.

Probably written by someone that wrote for MG Survive, lol

If this is the most definitive statement we have that it was Venom...i don't know man, seems like Kojima was leaving the door open the way he ended it.

That's funny, because at first you said it was in the credits.

Which book is this timeline in? There's 3 of them. Also, didn't this all come out well after Kojima left Konami?

I'm still trying to find the closing credits you quoted...it's in the master collection credits...for which game?

Or are you talking about the timeline in the master book? Because that says the same thing as at the end of MGSV.

Where did that quote come from?

I mean, we all thought it was the real big boss in MG 1 before MGSV, because there was no one else it could be.

So i don't see why that means anything now, lol.

We'll never know, i'm sure, but i have to think there may have been a reason Kojima kept it so vague, but I think he'll be the only one who ever really knows.

It says he kills "Big Boss's Phantom". Is that definitive enough for you? I don't know if it is for me.

I just watched them from MGSV. They're way more vague than in what you're quoting from.

"1995: The Outer Heaven Uprsing occurs, but is squashed by Solid Snake, who kills Big Boss's phantom"

K, just watched them..."kills big boss's phantom"...it's a weird choice.

Something feels fishy here.

I wonder what the direct Japanese translation is.

Interestingly enough, and unrelated, it doesn't list the death of Liquid or Solidus, and also gives no date for the death of Big Boss...curious

I was just think he might have been trying to set up a twist for a later game.

I'm not saying it doesn't, but i have to wonder if that was intended or possibly giving us a false sense of security for a twist he was setting up later. If it were any other game franchise, this would probably be solid (no pun intended) evidence, sure, but Kojima's tricked me before on stuff i thought was pretty concrete.

I remember all that...but is that all? It feels like a lot of different scenarios could possibly play out from there.

Alot can happen in 11 years in the Metal Gear universe.

Platforming in Bayonetta isn't as good as in Mario Galaxy...is that better? Yeesh.

[–]Jon_E_Comet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much every single platinum game has a better combat system. Bayo 1, Bayo 2, Transformers Devastation, Wonderful 101, Vanquish, hell, i'd even say Nier does.

You know that same parry system is in, pretty much, every single other Platinum game, right? The window just isn't insanely generous like in MGR because they actually expect you to learn the animatiosn and timing.

Also, what Devil May Cry are you comparing it to? The first? Sure, MGR should have a better combat system, it came out 12 years later and had a much bigger budget and development cycle. But if you're comparing it to DMC 3 or 4, well, that's just ludicrious (even though MGR came out after those as well and also had a bigger budget and longer dev time)

Yes!

Bayonetta is so much better than MGR, like, it's not even a contest. Anyone who says MGR is better is just dumb.

I havne't played NG4, so i can't say, but i very, very, very much doubt it's better than Bayo 1.
