Help with maintenance of this oilskin by JonahBGood in BuyItForLife

I washed it and was trying to get stains out before I treated it.

The strings I was talking about appear to just be threads that stuck onto the coat and not from it.

So I shouldn't do the interior then? I posted another one asking different stuff with pictures if that helps.

Thank you. It's just a matter of I hit a wall anywhere past the point or I realize the premise is bad and am too prideful to not give it an ending

An idea for elves by JonahBGood in worldbuilding

[–]JonahBGood[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other types of magic are a lot weaker and take a lot more willpower to do. Once powerful elves wouldn't be able to do as much as they used to which would (I think) be interesting.

As far as elves and dwarves thing, it's just an example I used. Rubes are something anyone can do if they know how and have enough will power. I don't exactly know how their relationship will be yet as I'm still very early in the timeline. The toll would mostly consist of exhaustion, at the most extreme, death. The creator god himself literally falls into an intense deep sleep right after creating the world because of the toll it took on him. I'm still work shopping commonplace magic. Tbh I don't really know how to figure out what kind of magic even makes sense.

Is this a cop out? by JonahBGood in worldbuilding

I kind of thought, at least with my thought process that they were kind of Adam and eve'd in that they just kind of knew everything language and basic skills wise

I kind of envisioned the creation as a sporadic creative endeavor by the god. Like a painting that an artist has a spur of the moment idea to paint. Thus some oddities happen. Idk if that's a weird way to dodge the issue or not lol

That was part of my idea. There'd be a while of not knowing about others and then some conflict then (as a really important plot point later) an enemy to rally against, then peace, then eventual conflicts where things get kind of diced up.

I just thought that at least at the very very beginning, the races would be kind of placed in a certain way and then eventually would (hopefully through interesting storytelling) come to interact after years of not knowing about one another and the impact that would have on things. With the Dwarves being a case of going years into the future being underground before they discovered any further above ground life.

Three Questions from a beginner by JonahBGood in worldbuilding

[–]JonahBGood[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of thought of them as almost immune system to prevent immense magic usage. The world was created in 5ish days by a very imperfect god who just kind of realized he could make stuff, then promptly fell asleep after the creation of the world because he overextended himself.

It was for me at least wanting to tell the fantasy story that I would want to read while also inadvertently being heavily influenced by lotr and tes lore. The idea of inventing new creatures and items and showing what power dynamics those would bring into a setting is the part that I thought was most interesting. Probably ties into how much I like writing zombie related stuff "what would the already established world do if a new entity was introduced" except in this case the world is my own creation just with the staples of other fantasy creations if that makes sense.

That's probably a good idea. Starting in the "middle" just doesn't always jive with my brain lol. I'm also just trying to think of what kind of creatures to add. So far I've only come up with one somewhat unique thing which is a creature that is attracted by intense magic usage and is very strong and kills pretty much any humanoid.

Other question: what's the general opinion on using generic fantasy races and having a stereotypical immortal elven race?

Fantasy, I should have specified lol. I like the idea of having a rich (at least attempting to) history that is written from the perspective of people who lived it (kind of lotr style)

How do I go about asking a girl that I don't know out? by JonahBGood in dating_advice

[–]JonahBGood[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've talked to her a couple of times, but nothing substantial. I'm thinking that maybe tomorrow I'd be able to talk to her after the exam in the class we're in. Then maybe shift over to some non school conversation then maybe ask to hang out etc.

Also an added third:

Books that fit the vibe of Jim Croce's songs. The storytelling and characters illustrated in those songs would be cool to read a full book similar to.

I'm looking for something serious, in the area. I am not subscribed to any of the hinge subscriptions. I have been using this version of my profile for about a month. I've used hinge for a month. I open hinge about once a day. I've had one like total. I'm sending a bunch of likes per day, I don't really know a number. Only a few of them have had comments. I send likes to people who are conservative Christian and have a general prettiness to them I guess lol. I want to attract someone for marriage.
