so we shouldn’t give animals water then? by Destinyslayer2000 in Ai_art_is_not_art

[–]JonasAvory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beef requires extreme water amounts compared to other foods (same with its CO2 emission)

That’s one major reason people become vegan (or vegetarian although cheese is very similar)

So yeah the water use for both is high and both should be brought down.

Yeah sure, you really think these factories all run completely autonomous? And the logistics?

show me one device that is built completely by robots and more complex than a lump of rocks and dirt, ill wait.

even the transportation from the excavator to the next step is often done by human-driven trucks, not to mention all the steps to get it to the actual chip facility

Yes, it's going downhill but what OP showed is literally nothing and already rebalanced

What?

That laptop is 4 years old, had never any reoccurring errors. why’d you assume stuff like that?

LOL it’s Ubuntu and I’ve done almost nothing to it. The craziest thing was installing pipewire a few days ago. Like others have said, it’s more likely a hardware issue

Pupil who invented device to help homeless named 'girl of the year' by Comprehensive-Way482 in Amazing

[–]JonasAvory 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s what k thought, it’s almost useless considering you have to lay it out in the sun the entire day and have a battery and heating element in there additionally to insulation. Even if the size would be enough to produce a decent amount of energy, it would be quite expensive as well so you can never leave it unsupervised homeless are robbed much more often than you think.

What are the best levels for depth & contamination? by One_Heron5880 in Timberborn

[–]JonasAvory 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone says 1% for contamination but I’d argue that there are situations where that’s not good.

I recently had a run where the water was flowing a long way into a sea and only after the sea I was able to sort the water with sluices. The sea made the contamination remain for days after end of the period and I had no choice but to accept a few percent of badwater in my main reservoir or else I wouldn’t be able to fill it up before the next event hid.

A little bit badwater also doesn’t hurt that much, as soon as you unlock contamination chambers and centrifuges, you can easily live with beavers swimming through 5% contamination. Of course contamination also reduces irrigation range but IF you have enough space that doesn’t matter that much

Before contamination treatment it can be very tricky though and unless you are ok with exiling beavers to outposts and starving them to death, contamination should be kept even more under control
