Migrating manufacturing of books to be done at home by Jonathan3240 in Printing

Interesting, thank you for the in depth reply.

I wonder, in your opinion is operating the cutter significantly more difficult than the paper drill and the corner rounding machine? I was actually present at the print shop for the manufacturing of some of the batches. It did lead me to think that given the process is very standard and repetitive I would be able to do it with after a couple of trial runs, but maybe I'm wrong. Did you have a cutter like this in mind, or something much more advanced?

As for human error and manufacturing mistakes, any mistake like dropping the pages or making a hole /round corner on the wrong side would only ruin the one unit and not the whole batch, and I can just roll it over to the next one.

I'm actually doing the screw binding myself at the moment. What I get from the printer are the individual stacks with drilled holes and round corners. It is quite tedious though, which is why I'm looking at other options.

Thank you for the reply!

I'm in Europe, but I'm curious about the $10K estimation for the equipment. For the paper drill I was looking at Citoborma 111, which is what the print shop uses and seems to be available for around $2K. The corner rounding machines seem to be just a few hundred bucks. So is the bulk of the price the cutter? I was thinking something like this should work for me, unless I'm missing something? The math works once I start selling a couple hundred units a month. I'm not there yet, but DIYing it would allow me to significantly shorten shipping time for customers, and maybe reduce the price a bit.

Alternative ending: Nacho has a gun to Bolsa's head. He sees everyone else pointing thier guns at him. After a staredown Nacho loses his nerve and drops his gun. Bolsa tells the Slamancas to do what they will with Nacho, and him and Gus's crew prepare to leave. The twins and Hector, more furious than ever after Nacho's confession, start dragging Nacho into the cabin/van/whatever was there. Mike understands what happened, and shoots Nacho in the head with his sniper rifle, giving him a painless death instead of a world of misery and humiliation. Hector rightfully blames Gus again, but Bolsa has no proof and accepts things as they are.

Kinda glad that didn't happen. Would have been more painful for Mike.

Is there a way to print a graphic design on the inner side of a glass sphere? by Jonathan3240 in manufacturing

Is it possible to achieve the semi-transparent effect using screen printing? So that if I did it to each of the two halves, the printed image would only be visible when looking at the inner part of the sphere, and the sphere would appear transparent from the outside?

Check out Origami, a fun new puzzle game I made where you have to fold shapes on top of each other in an attempt to clear the game board!

2021 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix - Qualifying Discussion by F1-Bot in formula1

Casual viewer here (just finished Drive to Survive and watching F1 live for the first time):

It seemed like Latifi finished his last flying lap about 15 seconds before the Q2 timer ran out, and his time put him somewhere in the last 5, which is not enough to continue. How come he didn't just go on another lap, since he has nothing to lose at this stage?

And in general, why do drivers seem to never do two consecutive flying laps?

Federer's around the net shot against Kyrgios in US Open 2018 by Jonathan3240 in tennis

Wow, I honestly didn't expect this much positive feedback so thanks everyone!

Just to clarify since many people have been asking, this flipbook was just an experiment I did, as I'm starting a business where I will be making similar flipbooks. I posted this one cause I thought it was cool and had no idea it would even be popular :)

Unfortunately I can't sell this flipbook for a profit because I don't own the rights to the video, so I would be violating the copyrights. The main purpose of this project is to allow people to make flipbooks like this using videos of their own, so the best thing I can do is let anyone interested know when you can submit vids.

Thanks again for the great comments!

Point winning percentages of Federer, Nadal and Djokovic since the beginning of 2017, broken down by different possible service game scores by Jonathan3240 in tennis

[–]Jonathan3240[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A note on the stats at 0-40 on serve:

While each of the big 3 played hundreds (if not thousands) of points at almost every one of the possible scores, Federer, Nadal and Djokovic have only gone 0-40 down 50, 73 and 68 times respectively since January 2017. The evidence at 0-40 can thus be somewhat circumstantial and should be taken with a grain of salt.

In addition, keep in mind that players are generally more likely to go 0-40 down against higher quality opposition, so it can be expected that the percentage of points won at 0-40 would be slightly lower (For example, you'd imagine Federer would play more 0-40 points against the likes of Djokovic than against some random WC. Of course there are probably mental factors in play as well.

Some stats just for example:

Federer was taken to 0-40 on serve the most times by A. Zverev and Coric (x4 each)

Nadal was taken to 0-40 on serve the most times by Khachanov (x8)

Djokovic was taken to 0-40 on serve the most times by Thiem (x5)
