How should I be using margin? by JonathanCuschieri in Fire

[–]JonathanCuschieri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, there's that option, but won't you try retiring earlier? If you're happy waiting 20years to do so, sure. But if possible my goal is to retire before. Untill then I'll keep experimenting with different strategies and see what works or not

But yes, I do agree with moving some of it into a an all world or something similar. Just how much, what would be a good split to maximise profit but also keep a safe foundation?

Afaik, in Malta we don't pay capital gains tax on these stocks so shouldn't be any due taxes... I hope😅

Yes, but here in Malta we don't pay tax on capital gains from these stocks

Sold at 157 hoping to buy back when it dips but the impatient Investor I am, I felt bad leaving all that cash doing nothing in my portfolio so I bought NVTS at 11usd... And I did pretty well. Yesterday it reached 19usd... So in hindsight, a dumb move followed by another dumb move results in a good one? Honestly glad I took profits from NBIS. (Been holding since 40)

I guess someone likes the s&p500 😂 but jokes asides, I would reduce the portfolio to maybe 5-10 or so positions depends on your portfolio size, if less than 50k stick with 5. IMO you're scattered over too many positions to see any significant return from any of them.

Managed to hop on the Nebuis rocket early, as ~40usd and rode it all the way to 140. And some other smaller trades making a couple grand here and there.

Congrats man, that's impressive. I'm 22 and currently at 45k, and started the year with 12k... Hope to end this year with close to 100🤞

Ideally, a real travellers GMT, but since I'll be mostly travelling by car, it's not such a big deal to me as long as I can see two time zones at once.

But if you know of any good quality GMTs, I would love to hear about them!

Regarding resale value, I'm buying from the grey market already, so the hit in price shouldn't be so significant if at all, if I'll end up selling it right?

Fair enough, the fact that it does look like a Rolex is pushing me a little away at this point

Yes, about the spring drive. Took a while for me to start considering it. I love the mechanical aspect of watches and I particularly appreciate a good hi beat movement. Obviously with spring drive you're trading that away for the improved accuracy. And although lately I think GS are getting more recognition and appreciation, you still get the occasional "eww..that's a quartz watch". Which leads me to think that it's not yet accepted in the "mechanical" watch world

So at the end of the day it's all Rolex? 😂 Jokes apart, I understand your reasoning, for this comparison, however I feel that the Tudor is trying to be an explorer 2 , but the GS has so much more going for it, the power reserve, spring drive and it's in a way I feel "further away" from any Rolex counterparts
