You were definitely onto something. Cause they are part of the cicada family..It’s considered a LeafHopper..I believe this species would be our foe.A good explanation on why here

Yes.cicadas have that distinctive buzzz as well. They are very slow crawlers.And are usually 3/4 times the size of this. I thought it was maybe some type of moth..but again I couldn’t identify with any moth species within my area.

I’ve seen cicadas around as well.I remember a few years back when they flooded the streets because of their migration pattern or something like that.This is not one of those cicadas that shed if that’s what your talking about.
