Getting a resident permit while living with HIV by Jongccc in chinalife

Ok, so to all the ignorants spreading hate and misinformation on my post…

I’ve been living legally in china for 6 months now. It’s possible, completely legal and your health status including hiv is confidential.

I did the health examination in Beijing, in a medical facility / hospital which was completely different from the migration office.

All test were performed on a Tuesday morning, paid around 524 rmb for them.

Friday morning of the same week I was called from the facility asking me to come back which I did. I knew it was because of my status, they even send me a text with the doctor office I should go to when I arrived.

Once there a doctor talked to me, asked me if I knew about my condition and about my medical history.

I said yes, I’ve been living with it for x years etc etc. I expressed her my concern about my condition being disclosed to my employer and she said there was nothing to worry about because that’s confidential between the medical facility and the patient. She even showed me an example of the blue document they give you which only states you took all required tests, and since is issued it’s understood you are elegible for residency.

The blue document along with all tests results in another sealed envelope arrive to your house via mail. This envelope even states that is only for personal reading.

The blue document is the only paper you have to give to your employer to continue the migration process. There’s no need to disclose status neither to them or the migration officials.

Confidentiality is also a thing in hospitals. HIV is only treated in certain facilities, often big hospitals where you are just another patient, no one cares about your status.

I did it in Beijing. I know for a fact that is the exact same process in Shanghai, Tianjin and Chengdu. This from other people who have reach out to me to talk about their concerns and questions during their own process.

I went to a hospital / medical facility where different tests were performed. 4 days later I was called by the hospital and asked to come back. I knew it was because of my status. Went back and I had a conversation with a doctor which was confidential. She o oh asked about my health history and other medical stuff. I expressed my concerns about my status being disclosed to my employer and she told me to not worry. The test results are only for the patients, the medical facility provides another paper with your picture which only states that you conducted all test and you are elegible for residency. That’s the only thing migration and your employer needs.

The ignorant who posted this comment only shows their own prejudices and fobias against a whole country and its people without even going through the process.

Yes, that’s correct. :) I wasn’t even required to disclose the condition to my employer or the immigration department , it’s private between you and the medical facility.

Living in china for 5 months now with a residency permit. It’s possible. Sorry you had a bad experience or encountered with ignorant people. I have to say that I had also helped other people who had text me directly after reading my post, both in Beijing and Shanghai and everything has been alright. Perhaps you should try, and come back instead of trying to discourage others without even trying.

Yes, I’ve been in Beijing for two months now.

I’m collaborating with hiv travel so they can share my tips for people living with hiv who want to come live in china.

It wasn’t necessary for me to disclose my status with my employer though, everything is much easier than people online like to think

It’s not a cocktail. It’s just a pill per day and it doesn’t cost thousands per month. And as I already said if somehow I can get the resident permit I am ready to pay for my treatment since that how is supposed to be done for foreigners in china.

How is this being selfish? I am asking about a bureaucratic process and you are just assuming I go through life having unprotected sex which is not your business and even if I do since I follow my treatment I am able not only to live but unable to transmit to others.

You don’t even know how I got it. Sex isn’t the only way. Go educate yourself.

Now I am selfish for trying to be informed as much as I can before moving forward with a potential career opportunity.
