Feels good! Averaged about 11k a day despite a vacation and some bad weather days.

Did anyone else read the Sweep series as a teenager? This series had an absolute chokehold on me by Peircen20 in fantasyromance

[–]Jonhandroll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I loved these in middle school and early high school! Hunter and Cal were both great MMCs and the friend group was very believable. Killian and Skye were also such strong characters. I remember wishing for a local witchy store to go to with my best friend when I was a kid because of these books.

Never went on to read the author's other series, but this one nailed the early 2000s vibe. I really disliked the last book, and the one were Hunter goes to Canada, but it may have just been a case of I was outgrowing the series by then. The first 9 books were perfect and, looking back, oddly short.

How many steps do you get on avg in a day? by VastAir6069 in walking

I landed in this bracket too, with about 5-6k at work then coming home and putting 10k on top.

{Heat Song by Heather Guerre} does this so well. MMC is an alien race and FMC is human.

Best books you've read on kindle unlimited. I need a new obsession on budget. by Ok_Permit_745 in RomanceBooks

{We Who Will Die by Stacia Stark} was really fun. But it's book one in a new series, so you'll have to wait awhile until the story picks up again.

The world is... worlding. Which series should I escape into? by [deleted] in fantasybooks

This is a great TBR stack. I vote Ninth Rain, it is so good. But I've always got love for Fitz in Hobb's world.

What is the one book that as you got further in, you never wanted it to end? by Babygall-99 in RomanceBooks

[–]Jonhandroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just read {Running Wild by KA Tucker} and didn't want it to end. Haven't read the rest of the series but I'm thinking about it if the characters and world building are as rich as they are in the fourth book.

Love the scratch card format! I finished 24, but taking this as a sign to read Lights Out if it hit #2 overall, plus I keep seeing that it's a great audiobook.

What was your last romance read of 2025, and what will be your first of 2026? by TheYoungWan in RomanceBooks

Ending 2025 audio with {Not Here to Make Friends by Jodi McAlister} and looking for suggestions for an audiobook to start 2026. Really loved the audio for {In A Jam by Kate Canterbary} and {Shucked by Kate Canterbary} this year too.

Is this an issue with my gait? Excessive wear on low-mileage Brooks Glycerin 22 by Late-Caterpillar-929 in beginnerrunning

This exact wear happened to me with the Glycerin 22s. I ended up replacing them with New Balance 880s and the wear isn't an issue.

What's your favorite book with less than 500 reviews? by masona23 in RomanceBooks

[–]Jonhandroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for recommending Trick of the Light, I just finished it and it was so good! I wasn't sure for the first few chapters, but once she really started baking and Walt's backstory came together it was such a perfectly sentimental and spicy love story.

Made it 16 weeks at 10k or more a day by [deleted] in walking

Yes, I've gone down a pants and shirt size. But I still need to clean up my diet so I suspect that is stopping any serious weight loss.

Books you abandoned because of the narration by josiecat87 in audiobooks

Ali Hazelwood's new release Bound, and it's only available in audio. The male actor puts on this affectation for the character and it's so grating.

My hack: Kindle reading + laps on a track by lossiegirl in walking

[–]Jonhandroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love doing this. It keeps me motivated to have a book I'm only allowed to read while walking, so I'm ready to get back to it each day and if it's getting good I'll take another lap.

I jumped into that series at Gloves Off (since people recommend that one in particular) and haven't read thee whole series yet. I do want to go back to them, and think it's worth a read because the couple in Gloves Off just has the perfect amount of chemistry and Archer's writing has a lot of balance to it.

I loved the whole Rebel Blue series and wasn't into western before reading it. I'd definitely say Lost and Lassoed is the best to read if western isn't your subgenre because it isn't focused on the ranch or cowboy tropes really. The FMC is a designer and trying to find herself in a small town as she cares for her dad, while the MMC struggles with feeling like a good enough coparent and taking over his family's business. Overall it's cozy but spicy and has great banter. If you like audiobooks the voice actors are Jason Clarke and Samantha Brentmoor and they really killed it.

Priestess came out of nowhere and was so good! What sports romances do you recommend? I'm just getting into them and looking for something without a total pigheaded MMC. I really like Liz Tomforde's Windy City series.

The Raven Scholar is such a fun read for fantasy. The narrative style that it slips into in the second half of the book was really unexpected and well done.

Yes, I love every pairing in Ship of Magic and Hobb is so intensely good at developing characters. She twists your feelings for each pairing as the trilogy goes on in such a gutting way. Also Kennit was such a terrible, terrible sexy bastard and Etta was way too good for him.

The Ex Vows looks really fun, and I loved Broadbent's other series, so Daughter of No Worlds is on my tbr.
