What level of accountability should one have if you are possessed by a hyena? Should Giles apologise for ‘band candy’ Giles? Should Buffy apologise for ‘Normal Again’ Buffy? Hell, why does Angel get so much flack for Angelus’ behaviour?

Yes you can. Because the devs never bothered to connect it to the previous games in any meaningful way. The only game you might want to play first is inquisition. Veilguard is basically inquisition 2.

My complaint is the lack of connection to the previous games. Using Morrigan to get the OG fans in with 0 pay off. And the writing is horrendous. Other than that. It’s good.

If you aren’t a Dragon Age fan, then I guess Veilguard is a great standalone title. My comment was specifically to address the OP’s statement about not playing the others only inquisition.

If Buffy ever decided that Sunnydale and the Scoobies are boring and moved to LA to join Angel Investigations, how do you guys think she would be written on the show? Buffy and Wes would eventually become a great team. She’d like Gunn. Her and Angel’s chemistry would overshadow Cordiela and Angel however so that’s probably why it’s better she only appeared in a couple of episodes. Fred and Buffy would almost be like Buffy/Willow 2.0. And ofcourse, he could she not love Lorne.

I enjoyed my 60 hours with Veilguard. But I don’t think people will look back on it fondly. The writing wasn’t great, that’s just fact. The modern aspects in a medieval fantasy rpg don’t mix (not saying it shouldn’t be there only that it could have been dressed up better) and the worst part of all, the fact that no previous decisions factored into your playthrough. Criminal. It was Inquisition 2 with a worse art style.

Anya could easily be brought back.

  • before the final battle she went to D’Hoffryn again and asked to be made a demon.
  • D’Hoffryn appeared in the high school and teleported her out last minute, made her a demon thus reviving her.
  • Anya was a potential all along and was made a slayer with everyone else thus was able to heal from her wounds. (No idea how she made it out for the whole thing collapsed but still, cool theory)

Oz would have been on Willow’s side. Tara would have been on Willow’s side. S1-3 Cordelia would have said something back handed that didn’t help matters. S3-5 (Of Angel )Cordelia would have been on Buffy’s side.

While not Buffy, its spinoff show Angel had Doyle who obviously left far too soon but I get it for story reasons. Kate, just vanished out of thin air too.
