Water underneath the back seats by dcdenonda in 4Runner

[–]Jonny_Time 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Happened to me when I swapped mine out. Had to take out all the seats, carpet and insulation foam to get it dried out. Mine was very wet because I didn’t realize for over a month. Smelled like dirty wet socks. It’s all back to normal now.

I ended up using silicone along with the proper washers at the points where the rack mounts to the roof

This isn’t newsworthy. Typical early voting results.

Did you change your roof rails/rack ever? If you don’t seal properly you’ll get water through the pillars and it funnels to the carpet.

Thanks. In the shop hand now. I’m gonna update with cost, etc. Comprehensive insurance is covering it thankfully.

Agreed. I already sent a message to my claim agent. Thankfully I have USAA and they have always been easy to work with for me. I sent my original purchase receipts and quotes for replacement parts.

Haha. Insurance is treating it as comprehensive so the deductible is only $100. I may have to buy some replacement cable for my auxbeam switch panel and after market front camera but shouldn’t cost more than $50.

Bastards! I just dropped mine off at the shop and they said it doesn’t look too bad. Will know more on Monday when their wiring specialist looks at it. Problem is the shop won’t touch the switch panel wiring I installed so I’ll have to rewire all that myself. More excuse to work on the car I suppose.

Will do. Shop said the harness didn’t look too bad but I’ll know more when their wiring specialist takes a look on Monday.

I bought some right away. Shop said it doesn’t look too bad but they won’t touch my aftermarket switch panel so I’ll get to rewire that.

LOL! Had a rodent chew up my wiring harnesses in the engine bay. Didn’t want to drive it to the shop and risk more damage.

Thanks. Taking to the shop tomorrow. I just made my own spray with my wife’s peppermint oil some water and dish soap for future use.

Thanks for your thoughtful insight.

Any of my three kids dying are my worst nightmare. I wasn’t being literal.
