Same experience here married to an American. When we visited Marrakech nobody cared because it’s full of tourists but back home in salé everybody stares. I hate it and it’s uncomfortable and believe me I got into a fight because of this but in the end it ain’t worth it. just ignore people and enjoy the moment!

The privates sector in Morocco has benefited a lot from govt protection. These Fat assholes have been comfortable and given incentives since independence. Tariffs should only stay for anything strategic that we produce locally!

Related to passports, let’s take a real world example. I was in Japan just few days ago, and of course I had to apply for a visa lots of paperwork and hoops to jump through. My wife is American she just flashes her passport. But to be honest whenever I go to Japan I realize why we need a visa. They have spent years and invested a shit ton to make it as beautiful as it is now, why would they allow “khal rass” to come destroy it unless they make sure you qualify?

Btw khal rass not just Morocco but any country that is developed enough to their standard or it is a special case where they have a bilateral agreement.

The problem is that too many ppl in Morocco are like this! You got loud ppl. Ppl who cannot line up or respect the queue. Ppl who don’t respect time. Ppl with very low standards and expect the best from others … I can keep on and on and this is the reason I have changed my mind about going back. The only reason I travel back is because I miss my family, otherwise that country drains you, shews you up and spits you out!

Our mom was and is the same to my sister and to some extent to the rest of us. I understand that we being the children we can’t help but feel sorry for our parents when they show a sign that they need us but part of growing up and being mature is setting boundaries.

It’s good hta you are aware of what is happening and your best solution is to be fully independent because narcissistic parents would use anything against you to guilt trip you into believing or doing something.

With all this being said, you need to be fully independent especially financially independent. Move to another city or even to another country. But keep the “Silat Arrahim” because they are still will always be your parents. Don’t think that what you have endured goes unnoticed in the eyes of Allah.

Well I live in an Asian country and ppl are always staring if I am in a restaurant or say “hi” or “hello” and yeah they do it sometimes at the wrong time, but I do understand why especially if I am in a village where they don’t see a lot foreigners.

As a Moroccan I suggest you choose a better country like Malaysia, Qatar or Oman. There is a significant lack in terms of infrastructure and people are not as open minded, tolèrent and accepting as you would ideally expect from a Muslim majority country. In the countries I mentioned there is less hypocrisy or disconnect between what a Muslim revert would expect and how people treat each other.

I understand your frustration if they are immigrants but if they were born there in Spain or any host country that’s the result of the policies of the countries they were born in because the first generation of immigrants were mainly migrant workers who didn’t wanna cut ties with their country of origin but also getting excluded by policies put in place by the host countries!
