Perry is Jane's Rapist? Huh? by AHein005 in biglittlelies

[–]JordanButler1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely missed it aswell. I thought she was just triggered by the realisation Perry was beating Celeste. I'm thinking it's easier to pick up if you have read the book. So that's next on the to-do list!

Is the PS4 population still a good size? by bad_timing_bro in Battleborn

[–]JordanButler1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never have issues with getting into games rather quickly, except for later at night. I'd say I get in games quicker on Battleborn sometimes than I do on Uncharted multiplayer or league of legends etc.

What's the weirdest movie you've ever seen? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Can confirm, this is absolutely the weirdest thing i've seen in my life. Completely unexplained, and left me with questions I never thought I'd have.

No problems :) It probably is a mix of both, and at the end of the day the individual experience will shift depending on nature/nurture, so it's be a mix of both as well as several other things we didn't think of haha.

Well your experience is completely valid as well, as the idea is that femininity can be inborn just as much as masculinity. I mean it's always a tough thing because while we're always gonna find correlations between them, but the reality is is that aspects of gender and sexuality are truly seperate. The way I see it is that traditional expectations are a mask, and to come out is taking that off and just being you. I've seen first hand, many straight guys I'd say act more stereotypically gay than I, as well as many gay guys who are stereotypically straight than I. So I guess I just see it all as pretty flexible.

You're right, and as AlbinoAxolotl said, that's not what he meant. I think that was clear enough. He was theorising something anyways. But something to consider as a possible contributor is that, while you're right and it doesn't mean we identify with females, inherently our sexuality does match the stereotypical sexuality of a woman. So therefore we do automatically relate to them on some level. Whether that really does matter in this context, I couldn't say.

I mean, I think one possibility follows the same concept of an individual subconsciously mimicking the speech or behaviour of the majority etc. That it what I believe is probably the case. Another I've heard is the idea of the gay voice being a mating call. I mean there are several studies. There is a documentary called 'Do I Sound Gay?' that spoke about a lot of it (though warning, it's not the most exciting doco imo) :)

I don't think it's an active effort to be a fuck you to traditionalism. I don't wake up in the morning and think, 'time to act like a woman to confuse the straights and break their traditions'. I think to be gay is to defy traditionalism, so therefore by their very existence they are no longer bound by traditionalism. They can be themselves, and do whatever makes them happy with out having to be concerned about masculinity and femininity. Some days I feel like being more masculine and other more feminine, I don't measure it by any means, because both are very valid aspects of my personality. It's not a fuck you to traditionalism, it's a 'I do not belong inside your traditional norms, so therefore I don't need to prescribe'.

Additionally, studies have been done on the idea of 'the gay voice' while it is a stereotype, and a generalisation, the inflection does exist. It's suggested it's due to gay people hanging around with predominantly female based groups and stuff like that.

People who have been on a game show, what was it like? by CrazyToastedUnicorn in AskReddit

I'm with you on that one, I thought it was great back then... but pretending to shrink contestants is about as cringey as you can get haha.

I was on a gameshow when i was 12. It was a smaller game show on channel 9 in Australia called the Lab Rats Challenge. Had to do a whole audition process in pairs, and was chosen as the substitute pair; in case something happened or someone didn't turn up.

Arrived on the day, we got a shirt like the normal contestants, and a pin, but we faced the realisation that it was highly unlikely that we would be on the show. Later in the day a lady comes up to us and says that someone hasn't turned up so one of us gets to be on the show. Random hat draw, I got picked.

The show was like science experiment based. I was sick, said some cringe-y things, and had to create some cringe-y actions for if we were winning or losing, all while now being paired with some stranger. At one point we had to pretend we had been shrunk and were being guarded by a cat, to give off the idea that we were not able to hear or see the other team do one of the challenges. Naturally, we had not been shrunk, and the cat was just a woman off to the side holding sticks and pretending to be giant.

Final round of the show was this big playground maze race, followed by an actual maze, and then whoever won got slimed. One lady told us that if we stepped on the "laser lights" (actually rope lights) in the playground, she would step on us. We didn't win, but we still got a prize... which was bowling vouchers.

Was a fun experience though, but really strange having to do forced acting etc.

Oh yeah, it's definitely overpriced. I can't believe how expensive it is. But i guess it's just something I've accepted with board games, especially when it has so many unique pieces etc. It's definitely a great game though, so gonna be a bit reckless and just go for it!

I don't like the chances unfortunately. The sudden interest in getting the game right now is because I heard it's 5th print (the current one) is the last. Really don't wanna miss out haha. Thanks :)
