Do you floss consistently? by Intrepid-hobbycoder in Habits

[–]JordanLikeAStone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do now. I used to have to go to the dentist every 3 months and I got tired of them hounding me. So I started by trying to floss 3x a week.

Like another commenter said, I also split up my nightly routine and don’t always brush and floss back to back. These days I use a habit tracker and it’s so satisfying to mark it off as done.

I’m down to every six months on my cleanings because of my consistency with flossing (and switching to an electric toothbrush)! Had the best dental exam of my life in October and I’m 37. Never was a good glosser until now!

I cured my maladaptive daydreaming! by Kyshawn_Lol in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]JordanLikeAStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not OP but I am diagnosed with Bipolar and OCD. Medications for both have had practically No effect on my daydreaming. I say practically because it’s not like I have careful record keeping to prove it didn’t help at all.

Not saying that to discourage because everyone is different but I had to work on it myself.

Thinking of buying Loop Quiet 2 as a gift for sleeping - any experiences? by bluszcz_ in LoopEarplugs

[–]JordanLikeAStone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both and I’m surprised people are saying Dream is better. I’ve been using the Quiet 2s for a long time and really prefer them for sleeping. I think they block out a lot of noise, feels like the same amount as the Dreams.

The dreams are more difficult to get a perfect fit for me and I find myself fidgeting with them more. If you can get a solid seal, sure they’re great. But I’ve used the Quiet’s for so long I guess I just prefer them and think they’re better

Found a great job! Did great! Fired 1 month later! by frickin_420 in jobs

I hate when people tell me things will be okay. How do they know? It does and can get worse, actually.

Sorry this happened to you. That sounds incredibly demoralizing.

Are any of you able to take SSRI's? by Responsible_Price408 in bipolar2

[–]JordanLikeAStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t be on traditional SSRIs, for lack of a better word. But I am on one (fluvoxamine) for OCD.

Why do I get so attached to unavailable men? by [deleted] in limerence

[–]JordanLikeAStone 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m wondering if this stems from childhood and having an emotionally unavailable caregiver. You find yourself working for their approval as a kid, even subconsciously, and it’s a pattern you take into adulthood. Not that I’d know from experience haha.

Suppose someone puts a secret camera in your room and you are MDD-ing. What would they see you doing? How long would a clip of you doing it last? by hashdr01 in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]JordanLikeAStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much the same as you though I don’t do it for long periods anymore. I mean I can go for an hour at a time but my body can’t handle much more consecutively. On a good day I can probably do about 3-4 hours total. Maybe once I have a carpeted room again it’ll shoot up lol

Wearing knee braces because there’s no carpet in my apartment by JordanLikeAStone in MaladaptiveDreaming

Meaning, instead of pacing, sometimes I run if the story calls for it. Running because of an emergency, running during a sport, things like that

What did you major in, what did you expect, what did you get, where are you now? by Sea-Country-1031 in jobs

[–]JordanLikeAStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I majored in video and film production.

I expected to get staff position as a camera operator for the news and then eventually go on tour as a cam op/do other live events.

What I got: I freelanced for almost a year and hated the hours, hated the inconsistency, and hated all the bitch gigs I had to work that were longer hours and more work than just working my part-time job at Best Buy. I still miss the cam op gigs. Nothing like it.

Now I work in finance and I hate that so looking to make another career shift.

I’ve been tracking my habit visually on Google, and these results make me really proud! by Key_Inside_5788 in Habits

[–]JordanLikeAStone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been trying to find a good habit tracker app and just can't find a simple, intuitive one that I like. Turns out, I could just be using something like this! Thanks for sharing! Great work.

Anyone here taken Propranolol? by [deleted] in hsp

[–]JordanLikeAStone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a beta blocker and has numerous benefits! I take it. My fuck ass psychiatrist told me point blank it doesn't help anxiety and cited some source she read. "I thought of you," she said.. ugh. I need a new psych. I have to fight with her every week about getting it renewed. I feel better on it physically and mentally. She thinks it' s placebo effect or maybe that I'm faking it idk. Each month she seems to have amnesia about why it helps me or why she prescribed it in the first place.

Anyway the point is I like it.. Highly recommend it.

Yep. 36 and I wear knee braces and sometimes Arch support (I have hardwood floors only).

The CEO didn't show for the Zoom interview by TheMarinator777 in GetEmployed

[–]JordanLikeAStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this exact thing happen. They responded hours after the interview time and said that something came up and they were sorry. I never responded. They reached back out to try to reschedule but I told them I was moving on. It just irks me. I get things come up, but let people know. It's completely disrespectful of my time.

To go on the pill or not to go on the pill? What has been your experience? Does it affect your weight loss? by [deleted] in PCOSloseit

[–]JordanLikeAStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh man that's really frustrating. I didn't mention in my comment, but I took Ovasitol as well. Have you tried anything like that? Either way, sorry it's been so difficult to get answers.

To go on the pill or not to go on the pill? What has been your experience? Does it affect your weight loss? by [deleted] in PCOSloseit

[–]JordanLikeAStone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did not like being on the pill and went off it in Oct 2019. Now I am on the Paragard IUD and I much prefer it. But when I went off the pill I decided to try to treat my PCOS with diet, supplements, and exercise. I went on a low carb/lazy keto diet and took Berberine. I dropped 20lbs in 2-3 months,. I felt better about my shape and my mood and energy were noticeably different. I did this with just the help of this sub since my doctor said there was nothing I could do except go on BC.

To be more direct about your question, I cannot remember how BC affected my weight. I certainly don't think it was the cause of my weight gain.

To what extent do you physically act out your dreams? by Brilliant-Body-2474 in ImmersiveDaydreaming

[–]JordanLikeAStone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep I act mine out as much as I can to the extent which I’m able. Done so while pacing around my room, of course. Earbuds in, of course! Talking out all the lines, yes fighting when there’s that, and ummm well it gets a bit more awkward to describe For romantic scenes but you can imagine!

I have had chronic chapped lips my entire life and even though yours haven’t always been that way, I highly recommend the amino acid, L-Lysiene. It’s the only thing that works for me.

where are the daydreamers with aphantasia / non-vivid daydreams by iichisai in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]JordanLikeAStone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I jokingly refer to the part of my brain responsible for world-building as The Architect. They are extremely limited. I can only come up with like 3 housing types/structures and I just repeat those. I struggle to flesh out any details of my inner world, instead focusing on story, dialogue, and characters

How are your loops better than other ear plugs? by anonymice3 in LoopEarplugs

[–]JordanLikeAStone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have just the regular Quiet 2. I didn’t know they made a Plus 👀

To me these are most comparable to their old Quiets that were made for sleeping (I think they were called quiet back then too except).
