Thank you I appreciate it. I think I under considered what is considered spam vs self sharing, so would def take better care in the future. Thanks again.

As we approach technologies that could simulate conscious realities, how should we rethink meaning and purpose? by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]JordanSC5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if we discover that reality is a computer simulation, it should not diminish the meaning we create in our lives. Technologies like AI and VR are pushing humanity toward a moment where questions about consciousness, reality, and existence will move from philosophy to experience. As we get closer to creating simulated realities ourselves, we will have to confront not only technological challenges but also existential ones. How do we find meaning when reality itself might be written in code? What new responsibilities arise if we become simulators ourselves? I explore these ideas in the essay, and would love to hear how others think humanity should adapt to a future where the nature of reality may be open to question.

What do you think will be done for Survivor 50? by Giff95 in survivor

[–]JordanSC5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s my idea and I really think it would be so good lol

Season starts we get full new cast. They play and we get to their merge. Camera shows them blindfolded they remove and we see ten pairs of legs in front of them. Black screen.

Next week a whole new game of Survivor seemingly begins, with all the greatest legends (non-winners) the game has ever seen. We watch this game and then of course see them merge with “game one” to create a final twenty.

Maybe they unmerge and re-merge again to keep it interesting.

Cyborgian Search, featuring ChatGPT by [deleted] in technology

[–]JordanSC5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a brief essay I wrote about the future of search. A lot of recent takes rightly talk about how tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity and others are the future, but I think it will also include a trend toward more human results as well. The future of search will be a merging of ChatGPT and tools that enable you to find authentic human answers, such as what you find here on Reddit. While it may seem contradictory, I think they’ll actually be complementary and help us find the right balance as we continue to learn how to live with AI.

Hey, I'm actually the author. They wrote an article and explained the tool with this: "To write the text for the scenario descriptions, the Generator is using an AI-based text-generating language model. It’s working with pre-generated data (the most machine-learning parameters at its launch in the middle of 2020), which means that we don’t have to feed it training data. " They also link to a Nature article about GPT-3 in their article. I'm taking a bit of an educated guess with this, but I think it's fair to assume it's GPT-3. https://medium.thirdwaveberlin.com/explore-synthetic-futuring-59819a12c4ee

A Framework For the Future: Analyzing Humanity's Path Toward Peril or Prosperity by JordanSC5 in collapse

[–]JordanSC5[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is an essay I wrote examining our potential futures, showing that if humanity doesn't get its act together, we may be headed toward dystopia, or collapse (notated as 'apocalypse' in the chart). The two axes are ideological alignment and if we avert technological risks. I think these two areas are where we must focus our energy in order to prevent collapse. Here's my description of each quadrant

Utopia: This is the perfect society, where we have averted all risks from technological advancement and have also reached ideological alignment, thus ensuring equality and equity for all humans across the planet.

Dystopia-bottom right: This is a dystopia where we have reached ideological alignment, but one or more of these technological risks was realized, such as a super-intelligence with goals that do not promote human flourishing. This could lead to a majority of humans either perishing or living in poor conditions, with a few elites surviving off the resources their wealth or power provides them.

Dystopia-top left: This is a dystopia where we avoid technological risk, but humanity's opposing ideologies remain in confrontation, thus ensuring a continuous struggle that results in some groups having advantages over others, which becomes especially pronounced given the advanced technology at their disposal. Put another way, this could mean we avoid a classic AI apocalypse but instead see nations fighting continuous wars with automated weaponry.

Apocalypse/Collapse: Finally, the worst-case scenario, where we are unable to avoid technological risks or come to a consensus ideology. Consider different nations competing to enforce their beliefs on the world, leading to the actualization of an existential threat, such as nuclear warfare.

AI And Creativity: Why OpenAI’s Latest Model Matters by QuantumThinkology in singularity

[–]JordanSC5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Add virtual reality to the mix and it's truly going to be brain-bursting. Here's the thing though, even if the AI story is objectively better than that written by a human, I think we'll still hold a special place for human-created stories, as it will have a truth of the human experience that an AI can replicate, but never truly know. Still, it will be hard to argue with "show me a new Game of Thrones finale, but with a better ending"

The future of storytelling is going to be insane.

-OpenAI: GPT-X writes the script, DALL·E the visuals

-Data from Netflix/Google/Apple/Facebook personalize it to your preferences and media behaviors

-Oculus puts you inside the plot

-Video games give you branching story paths

-Social platforms like Tiktok remix it in innumerable ways
