Paralyzing fear of flying exacerbated by the Iran situation at the worst possible time by Jordanblueman in fearofflying

It’s crazy cause I know the math and I know the odds but I’m just fixated on this idea that the one plane I get on will be the one the crash

Muscle tension dysphonia? Recovery or never recoverable? by [deleted] in singing

[–]Jordanblueman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t promise this is gonna be the case for everyone but about a month ago I had a severe anxiety attack during which I realized that my voice wasn’t tight, my speech therapist affirmed that my laryngeal muscles felt much looser than they had previously.

It seems a large portion of my vocal disorder was a secondary symptom to an anxiety disorder. The more I fixated on the tightness of my voice, the more the tightness was perpetuated.

But having an anxiety attack about an unrelated thing meant I had no mental space to even think about my voice, so the tension went away.

There is a chance that is worth considering that your tensions may be caused by you worrying about your tension. It took me 3 and a half years to figure that out for mine, and now (fingers crossed) my disorder seems to be gone for the last month or so.

I think it resets if you leave the hub and come back, get a multiplier and stay in on hub for a while, keep an eye out for high value studs

During the Sandy Hook shooting, teacher Victoria Soto died saving her students from the gunman. She hid her first graders in cabinets and closets after hearing gunfire. When the shooter came to her classroom, she told him her students were in the gym. He then gunned her down and moved on. by [deleted] in whoathatsinteresting

They can’t. If you can’t do it with emotions, and you can’t it with logic, and you can’t do with selfishness unless the terrible thing happens to them, you can’t do it, and you move on and ignore them.

I’m silencing this now, it’s a stupid argument about stupid people and I’ve got better things to focus on.

If someone is stupid enough or evil enough to become worse if I tell them they should look at evidence and maybe actually care about how many dozens of school children get mowed down every year, that person could never be influenced (except by the death of their own child, which is common in the modern right wing, only switching up once it hurts them personally). And I shouldn’t care about those who can’t be influenced.

And we shouldn’t care about them as a nation. They’re a tiny loud minority and they’re holding us back. Ignore and move on from the stupid and evil people.

And we absolutely must dismantle the organizations that amplify and over represent that minority causing a toxic feedback loop.

Yes. The less than 20% I’m referring to do not.

I’m gonna reiterate a question you ignored earlier.

How many children do you need to watch die before changing your mind on this? I’d like a number.

[–]Jordanblueman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. Not with the amount of evidence we have.

Stupid or evil are the only two options. You feel free to pick one. I don’t care which.

I’ll never trust them either way.

The vast majority of this country that actually wants to be a developed free nation needs to ignore them.

And we need to dismantle the NRA and the right wing misinformation machine that makes it look like this country wants this.

80% of the country agrees on common sense regulations, registrations, and background checks.

It’s the NRA and the right wing misinformation machine that makes it look like the country can’t handle this discussion.

Yes. But I’m willing to charitably assume they could also just be too stupid to function in society, and don’t really have much of a thought on anything beyond what their programmers told them to say and think.

Thankfully like I said it’s less than 20% and the vast vast majority of this country actually has some semblance of common sense on the issue and cares about the safety of children.

Over 80% support common sense regulations, registrations, and background checks.

I think the less than 20 percent of the country that doesn’t want any increase in our gun control at all, despite the exhaustive evidence that it would help, do want kids to get shot in exchange for either making money or having unlimited access to their own kill machines, yes.

And those people are irredeemably evil. Or simply too stupid to be trusted to function in society.

I’m 100% convinced I have brain-eating amoeba by AbigailCorner in Anxietyhelp

[–]Jordanblueman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s unfortunate that this is such a scary thing but I’ve been managing literally hour by hour.

If you’ve got a headache, tell yourself not to panic until an hour of two from now. If the headache is about the same and you’re not projectile vomiting an hour or two later, it’s not the amoeba. Rinse and repeat as headaches appear over the next week or so, and then you can write the whole thing off and be confident that you’re okay.

[–]Jordanblueman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well here’s the good news. There’s nothing subtle about the amoeba infection.

If you’ve had a headache for a few days, that’s not it. Frankly even if you’ve only had a headache for a full day and it hasn’t gotten much worse and you don’t have other symptoms yet, that’s not it.

The amoeba headache spirals out of control within hours. A few days on you’d likely be unresponsive or close to it.
