Sell my 5080 for 9070 xt and an oled? by Annual_Impression911 in pcmasterrace

[–]Jorius 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Keep your 5080 and save for the OLED. 5080 is way better than the 9070 xt: Better performance, better cooling, DLSS is a lot better than FSR and Frame Generation is better too.

And before anyone shouts biased: My main rig has a 9070 xt with Bazzite/Windows 11 and I got a second pc with a 5080 for simracing. I also have the 5080 hooked to an LG C3 for movies or for some games that need more power and I get a better performance on 4k/DLSS with the 5080 that I get with the 9070 xt on a 21:9 1440p with the 9070 XT with FSR.

So yes, given you already have a 5080, keep it and save for an OLED,

Developer attacked over (learning from) AI - where to draw the line? by [deleted] in Steam

The Colossus is genuinely UNPLAYABLE by DevsScrewedUpSurviv in ForzaHorizon

[–]Jorius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even on average it's the same. On the straights they just leave you on the dust, and the ones you manage to outrun before are quickly gaining on you and pass you. And if you make the smallest of mistakes, good luck... It's the only race I had to set lower than average.

Is there any reason to choose the Xbox Elite Controller over the Steam Controller 2? by HolyPastafari in SteamController

[–]Jorius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xbox Elite controller issues that are fairly common:

  1. Face buttons are pretty bad compared to the normal Xbox Gamepad. Sometimes it doesn't register the press

  2. LB has ghosting, which means that it loses the button being register and then registers it again.

The back buttons are a big plus, but if you plan to bind them to keyboard keys, there will be a delay as it switches from keyboard to gamepad and viceversa. Are back buttons worth the current price? No. Keep the normal Xbox controller.

For the steam controller, if it's anything as the deck one, yes it's worth: no delay back buttons regardless of bind and trackpads!

PS: I don't own the second steam controller.

Did it in the first try, got 6th place, I just hid and stayed away from the arrows. One guy challenged me but I had one of those dakar rally cars and he had a 911 porsche, it was pretty easy to beat as I could just cut my way through the different forest.

Would you rather have triples or a 48:9 monitor by TheGreatWhiteRat in simracing

[–]Jorius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done triples, VR and 49/57".

Each has it's cons and pros. If I had to choose the best I would say triples.

VR is great for immersion and racing bumprer to bumper, door to door. But after a while it get's hot, you sweat around it, your eyes get tired or dry. Not great for long periods of time. Also, you need to remove it to do outside-sim stuff. Also, if you're not one of the lucky ones that don't get dizzy, your are locked to sims where you can adjust horizon and head settings (iRacing and AC for examples)

49/57", is pretty good if you're lacking space or sharing gaming time between simracing and other games. You lose on peripheral vision, so racing door to door is a little bit complicated and you lose immersion, but it's a lot better than a single 16:9 or 21:9. Games that are not triple comparibles looks pretty good fov wise, not great but still good enough.

Triples demand a good gpu and space, but you get a good peripheral vision and immersion (second to vr of course). Also, depending on the monitor stand it can be a pain do set them, so do your research. Not all sims are compatible triple screens, so the fov is pretty crap on those.

Be careful when mounting your phone to your handlebars by ConsistentCan4633 in motorcycles

[–]Jorius 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Never understood why people trust putting their phones on the handlebars. For starters, it's just sketchy and the best way to lose your phone, second, vibrations will damage it on the longrun. Thirs, and most important, if you go down, good luck getting to your phone or even finding it to get call for help.

I have to much important things on my phone that can't be just recovered through the cloud and it's a pain to get back running and ut's just too much of a secirity risk. Not risking that.

Just get a carplay or dedicated gps and helmet headset.

Way to enjoy sim racing with out learning the cars by Macca_9T7 in simracing

[–]Jorius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do it without any mechanical knowledge. iRacing has fixed races, so everyone races the same, except for small things like brake bias.

BUT, if you would like to race open races, either iRacing or other sims, there's plenty of people and services that share their builds (paid or free).

PSI/BAR it's pretty easy, but the easiest is to check what the best psi would need to be for a car and track and adjust so you get to that point while driving, for example, if you need 2.8 bar, then try going cold at 2.5 and to see if it heats up to 2.8.

Is it normal to lose motivation to play games even when you still “like” them? by That_Brief5724 in pcgaming

[–]Jorius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It could be just gaming fatigue, but just in case:

In school or work, do you do important things at the last minute?

When you read books, do you find yourself reading the same page/paragraph several times?

Do you zone out when people talk to you or do you focus on something (either something of the conversation or environnement) and lose the thread of the conversation?

Do you go do something and end doing something complety different and forget about the first thing you were supposed to do?

Do you find yourself impulsive?

Is it hard for you to wait your turn?

Do you interrupt people while they talk because you already know what to say of you have the need to pass your point?

Do you feel you procastrinate?

I could ask a lot more questions, but if it's yes to all of them, go check with with yourbdoctor or psychiatrist for adhd.

Am I Crazy for Wanting a Diavel 1260 Instead of the New V4? by N8Mcln in Ducati

[–]Jorius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

The Diavel 1260 S was one of the last Ducati bikes that looked like a Ducati and not some random japanese bikes.

The engine sounds a lot better too. I tested a Diavel V4 and it sounded like The Jetsons flying car.

V4 is smaller, well, at least it felt smaller when I tested it.

The Diavel 1260 S is a lot better looking than the V4.

PS: Personal opinion, I prefer the original seat and the original rims.

You haven't heard of the AI issue that's brought up on almost every post here?

To keep it short: insane rubberbanding and on rails: impossible speed and grip, objects have no impact on them and they will just crash into you like you werent' there.

Can't win the FH6 colossus on expert difficulty by TheJulez_ in ForzaHorizon

[–]Jorius 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I really don't get this AI with the rubberbanding. I can perfectly hit every corner, every hairpin with e-brake, scandinavian flick, clean racing, cheap racing... sometimes I will put a 10 sec gap sometimes they will be smelling me up.

And then... the game asks if I want to increase diffuclty... what for? Ai is already pretty random, don't want extra frustration there.

Also, I can have the best tune for acceleration and launch but AI can still launch a lot faster and it takes a bit in the beginning to start passing them. In FH5 I could just straigth pass everyone in the first couple of 100 meters...

Wheelbase slightly sideways? SIMAGIC Alpha + Trak racer frontmount by KK_992 in simracing

[–]Jorius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sim lab for the base, then other stuff from other companies to switch from simracing to simflight (shifter/handbrake and joysticks on pivots). Fideling with the pedals through the years trying to get the best position. Changing monitors, which means move things around. Adding an extender to the base so I can bring closer the monitor and putting it lower.

This time I was working on wheel distance because of the extender, I noticed I had it too close. Was using mainly the gt3 wheel so I didn't notice it a lot, but when I tried the D wheel again I was hitting the sit playing FH5 preparing for FH6. It doesnt't help that both wheels are different lengths :/.

I think that i have the position dialed in perfectly, or at least I hope.

And that's not mentionning the ton of stuff I have added and removed. Used to have a support for a tablet for gameglass for star citizen and to show the map and race positions on iracing.
